On the afternoon of June 9th, the Standing Committee of the Can Tho City Party Committee organized a conference of the Municipal Party Executive Committee to consider and provide opinions on draft schemes and some contents within its competence.

At the conference, 100% of the Executive Committee members agreed with the two draft schemes, including: the draft scheme on the establishment of the Can Tho City Party Committee by merging the Party Committees of Can Tho City, Soc Trang Province, and Hau Giang Province; and the draft scheme on the reorganization and streamlining of the Can Tho City’s Fatherland Front Committee, socio-political organizations, and mass organizations assigned by the Party and State (at both city and grassroots levels).

Concluding the conference, Mr. Do Thanh Binh, Secretary of the Can Tho Party Committee, stated that the Standing Committee had just given opinions on key personnel for 32 wards and communes (of Can Tho City) and the plans for the Executive Committees and Standing Committees of these wards and communes. The following day, the Standing Committee will provide opinions on the Inspection Commissions of the administrative units at the communal level.

Subsequently, the wards and communes’ functional departments will be arranged, ensuring that the incumbents undergo training on June 14th and 15th.

Secretary Do Thanh Binh also informed that it is expected that on June 18th, Can Tho will announce the dissolution of district and communal Party Committees and the establishment of new communal Party Committees, along with the announcement of the Executive Committees, Standing Committees, and key positions.

After the announcement, the new wards and communes will operate on a trial basis and are expected to officially commence operations on July 1st.
