According to a report from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the first five months of 2025, the country’s Market Management Force (QLTT) inspected and discovered 7,581 cases of violations, issuing administrative fines of nearly VND 98 billion, collecting over VND 116 billion for the state budget, and transferring 54 cases with signs of criminal activity to investigative agencies.
In the field of e-commerce, based on media reports of counterfeit and substandard goods, the Ministry of Industry and Trade coordinated with the Ministry of Health to issue nine documents requesting e-commerce platforms to scrutinize and prevent the sale of products/services that fall under the category of prohibited, restricted, or conditionally traded goods.
As a result, e-commerce platforms removed 34,677 products and blocked 11,558 stalls that were in violation or failed to provide complete information as required.

Notably, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has been cross-checking with tax authorities, leading to the shutdown of over 120 websites and 48 inactive or non-tax-compliant e-commerce apps. Additionally, both sides have cross-referenced data from approximately 40,600 e-commerce selling platforms.
The ministry has also collaborated with the Ministry of Public Security by providing a list of 11 cross-border e-commerce platforms that failed to register their operations as required by law. This information will aid the Ministry of Public Security in researching and applying preventive measures within their jurisdiction.
Furthermore, the ministry has coordinated with customs authorities to identify cross-border e-commerce service providers that have not registered in Vietnam, aiming to prevent the clearance of goods traded through these unregistered platforms.
Moving forward, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to direct market inspection and control efforts with a focused approach. This includes rigorously combating smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods, with a particular emphasis on violations in the e-commerce sector.
The ministry will work closely with the Departments of Industry and Trade in provinces and cities to oversee the QLTT force at the local level. This collaboration will involve conducting inspections, disseminating legal knowledge, and obtaining commitments from organizations and individuals involved in production and business activities, especially those operating on e-commerce platforms.
As of May 29, 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade had received 913 new registration dossiers for e-commerce websites and applications. Of these, 668 dossiers have been processed, and the remaining 245 are being handled. In May 2025, Vietnam’s e-commerce growth rate is estimated to be transitioning from a rapid growth phase to a more sustainable pace. According to forecasts, by the end of May, the e-commerce sector will maintain a growth rate of approximately 17%, contributing to the country’s overall growth target of 8% and above, as per Resolution No. 25/NQ-CP. |
