North Giang Authority Takes Action Against Illegal Mining
On June 18, 2025, the Security Investigation Agency of the Bac Giang Provincial Police executed an arrest warrant and conducted a search of the residence and workplace of Phung Ngoc Phuong, DOB 1971, who served as the director and legal representative of Tien Phuong Bac One-Member Co., Ltd.
Prior to this, the Security Investigation Agency had issued a decision to prosecute the case and charge Phuong with “Violation of regulations on mineral resource exploitation” as stipulated in Article 227, Clause 2 of the Criminal Code.
The initial investigation revealed that from 2020 to 2024, the suspect Phung Ngoc Phuong, under the guise of Tien Phuong Bac One-Member Co., Ltd., directly instructed and engaged in illegal exploitation of minerals (backfill soil) in Huong Son and Huong Lac communes, Lang Giang district, Bac Giang province, amounting to more than 800,000 cubic meters of backfill soil, with an estimated value of over VND 23 billion.
The Security Investigation Agency is expanding the investigation of the case.
