At the meeting, the People’s Committee of Kien Giang Province announced that the province’s total public investment plan for 2025 has been increased to nearly VND 16,000 billion, an additional amount of over VND 4,800 billion compared to the previous plan.

Of the additional capital, over VND 2,100 billion is from local funds for urgent projects and works (including the allocation of over VND 1,100 billion for the construction of items serving APEC 2027 in Phu Quoc). At the same time, the central budget supports Kien Giang with more than VND 2,700 billion to invest in key projects for APEC.

The People’s Council of Kien Giang Province also approved the policy of converting the purpose of using more than 45ha of forest land to implement the Enclave Phu Quoc eco-tourism, resort, and entertainment complex project (in Bai Thom commune, Phu Quoc). This area has been removed from the forestry planning by the Prime Minister and is in line with the planning for the development of Phu Quoc. The total area of land for this project is over 196ha, of which nearly 84ha is outside the forest land planning.

In addition, the People’s Council of Kien Giang Province also approved the addition of a list of works and projects that need land retrieval and land plots for auction to select investors in the province.

Speaking at the closing session of the meeting, Mr. Lam Minh Thanh, Permanent Vice Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, requested that the People’s Committee of Kien Giang Province urgently deploy the just-approved resolutions. In particular, he emphasized the need to pay attention to the implementation of tasks and projects to serve APEC 2027 in Phu Quoc.

“The implementation of tasks and projects to serve APEC 2027 must ensure progress and quality, in the spirit of the Government and the Provincial Party Committee’s Standing Committee,” Mr. Thanh stressed.

Regarding the rearrangement of administrative units, the Chairman of the Kien Giang Provincial People’s Council requested that localities and branches complete the handover of organizational apparatus, assets, data, etc., before June 30. He also ensured that the new administrative apparatus would operate smoothly from July 1, 2025.
