The loan consists of three components with tenors of three and five years, not only strengthening HDBank’s financial resources but also demonstrating the bank’s commitment to sustainable development goals and international environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.

HDBank will allocate this funding to areas with a positive impact on the community and the economy, including green project financing, promoting sustainable agriculture, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), women-owned businesses, and low-income groups through social housing credit programs.

This is one of the first co-financing deals between FinDev Canada, JICA, and SMBC, and it is also one of the first loans FinDev Canada has provided to the private sector in Vietnam. This pioneering deal is also one of the largest syndicated loans ever provided by international financial institutions to a joint-stock commercial bank in Vietnam to materialize sustainable development goals.

The partnership with leading partners such as JICA, SMBC, and FinDev Canada is a testament to the international financial community’s confidence in HDBank’s capabilities, strategic orientation, and steadfast commitment to sustainable development.

Mr. Tran Hoai Nam, HDBank’s Deputy CEO, represented the bank in signing the $215 million syndicated loan agreement with JICA, FinDev Canada, and SMBC.
