Restructuring of Old HCMC Power Companies Results in 10 Units

Regarding the inner city of HCMC, the power sector has reorganized from 15 directly affiliated power companies to 10 units. Four new power companies were established:

  1. Sài Gòn Power Company, merged from Sài Gòn, Tân Bình, and parts of Phú Thọ and Gia Định Power Companies
  2. Tân Thuận Power Company, merged from Tân Thuận and Duyên Hải Power Companies
  3. Gia Định Power Company, formed from the remaining parts of Gia Định and parts of Gò Vấp Power Company
  4. Chợ Lớn Power Company, merged from Chợ Lớn, Tân Phú, and parts of Phú Thọ Power Company

The six remaining companies, including Thủ Đức, Bình Chánh, Củ Chi, Hóc Môn, An Phú Đông, and Bình Phú, maintain their original organizational structure.

Improving Power Supply Quality

To enhance power supply quality, EVN HCMC aims to complete the automation of the power grid in the newly merged areas within the next two to three years. Additionally, the power grid quality in Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau will be upgraded to match the inner-city standards.

The corporation also announced its plan to eliminate manual electricity bill collection, opting for bank payments instead. Meter reading will be fully transitioned to a remote system, doing away with the current manual practice. The power companies will strictly adhere to regulations regarding power cut duration during construction, limiting it to no more than 5 hours per day and no more than twice a year for each area.

EVN HCMC also warned residents to be cautious of potential scams exploiting the merger and administrative changes to solicit personal information or collect illegal fees.
