The Quang Ngai-Hoai Nhon Expressway is a major infrastructure project with a total investment of approximately VND 20.4 trillion. Construction began in early 2023, with the Project Management Unit 2 as the investor and Deo Ca Group as the main contractor.

With a total length of 88km, the expressway passes through Quang Ngai (60.3km) and Gia Lai (27.7km) provinces. It is the largest of the 12 component projects.

According to the Deo Ca Group representative, the contractor is accelerating construction to ensure the project meets its deadline by the end of 2025.

The route includes three mountain tunnels: Tunnel No. 1 (610m long), Tunnel No. 2 (698m long), and Tunnel No. 3 (3,200m long). It also features 77 bridges, 586 culverts, and 81 pedestrian underpasses.

Currently, 50 out of 50 construction sites are operational with approximately 3,100 personnel and 1,150 equipment. The total output has reached VND 10 trillion, equivalent to 75% of the total volume.

Workers are racing against time, working through the night to complete the Quang Ngai-Hoai Nhon Expressway project.

In terms of road construction, the project has completed approximately 99% of the stone grading process and has started asphalt paving for nearly 70km. The plan is to finish concrete asphalting by September. The production and assembly of road safety components have reached about 95% of the total output.

The route includes 77 bridges, all of which have completed the substructure and beam casting. Additionally, 76 bridges have finished beam installation and are undergoing deck construction.

Regarding the tunnel construction, Tunnel No. 1 and No. 2 have completed the civil engineering and electromechanical equipment installation. Tunnel No. 3, with a length of 3,200m and a road width of 12.75m per tunnel tube, has made significant progress. The right tube (North-South direction) was excavated on April 28, 2025, six months ahead of schedule. The left tube was excavated on June 28, 2025. After the excavation, the contractor continued with foundation excavation, tunnel shell concrete, road concrete, etc. The plan is to complete the concrete shell of both tubes in October, install the equipment, and finish Tunnel No. 3 by the end of December 2025, eight months ahead of the contract schedule.
