According to Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper, Mr. L.Q.N (born 1985, residing in My Xuyen town, My Xuyen district, Soc Trang province (formerly known as Ca Mau province), now known as Can Tho city) – who previously accused a store belonging to CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company (referred to as CP Vietnam) in My Xuyen of selling diseased pork and chicken, received a summons from the Investigative Police Agency of Can Tho city on the evening of August 4th.

The summons stated that at 8:30 am on August 7th, Mr. N. must present himself at the Investigative Police Agency in relation to a complaint filed by Mr. N.T.A, accusing Mr. N. of abusing democratic freedoms to infringe on the interests of CP Vietnam.

However, in an interview with Dan Viet, Mr. N. stated that he had requested a postponement of the summons due to his critical health condition, suffering from severe heart failure and end-stage renal disease.

“Due to my poor health and difficulty in mobility and daily activities, I am unable to comply with the summons. If your agency has any questions, I am willing to report and answer truthfully,” Mr. N wrote in his request.

On the morning of August 5th, Mr. N also submitted a statement to several authorities regarding this matter.

In his statement, Mr. N sought clarification on how his actions infringed on the interests of CP Vietnam, as alleged by Mr. N.T.A. He also asked whether the accusation was made by Mr. N.T.A. individually or on behalf of CP Vietnam.

Mr. N further added in his statement that he had previously lodged complaints with relevant authorities about food safety issues at CP Freshop stores belonging to CP Vietnam during the period of 2022-2023.

Prior to this, he had reported the issue multiple times to CP Vietnam’s management in 2022 before reporting it to the authorities. The purpose of reporting to the authorities was to initiate an investigation and rectify the situation. After the police concluded their investigation, Mr. N did not make any further comments or statements regarding CP Vietnam.

According to Mr. N, following his reports, three Freshop branches in Soc Trang were found to be in violation and fined VND 105 million. Additionally, issues with incorrect slaughter inspection stamps on pigs were discovered…

As previously reported, on May 30th, the Facebook account “Jonny Lieu” posted information about a “Complaint about violations of food safety laws”. The complainant, Mr. L.Q.N., alleged that “CP Vietnam used diseased pork and chicken with a putrid odor and sold them at Freshop in My Xuyen – Soc Trang to the market… along with several images of pigs showing signs of disease.”

Subsequently, the Ministry of Public Security, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, officially investigated and handled the case.

On June 29th, the Investigative Police Agency of Soc Trang province issued Document No. 10921-TB/CSKT, concluding that there were no signs of criminal offenses related to food safety regulations by CP Vietnam, as stipulated in Clause 2, Article 157 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Concurrently, the Investigative Police Agency decided on June 27th, 2025 (Decision No. 6392) not to initiate a criminal investigation into the “Violation of food safety regulations” in My Xuyen, Soc Trang.

Thus, the accusation against CP Vietnam regarding violations of food safety laws was found to be baseless and without legal grounds.
