VIC resumed its market leadership role, contributing over 6 points to the VN-Index’s gain, closing at the ceiling price of 111,200 VND per share. Stocks in the same ecosystem, such as VHM, VRE, and VPL, also rose in unison, creating a positive spillover effect on the overall market.

VN-Index surges past the 1,500-point mark
Active trading was also observed in the banking group. SHB and TPB both hit the ceiling, with SHB attracting particular attention as liquidity surged to over VND 1,666 billion, ranking second on the exchange. The stock closed at the ceiling price of 18,600 VND per unit.
SHB has recently announced that August 19 will be the record date for shareholders to receive 2024 dividends in shares, with a payout ratio of 13%. The bank plans to issue over 528.5 million shares, increasing its charter capital to more than VND 45,942 billion. Previously, SHB completed the first 2024 cash dividend payment with a ratio of 5%. Thus, the total dividend for 2024 reached 18%, in line with the plan approved by the general meeting of shareholders and expected to be maintained in 2025.
In addition to SHB, large-cap banks such as TCB, VCB, CTG, BID, and VPB also rose in unison, bolstering the upward momentum of the index. All listed banking stocks on HoSE maintained their gains.

At the close, the VN-Index climbed 32.98 points (2.21%) to 1,528.19. The HNX-Index gained 3.41 points (1.29%) to 268.34, and the UPCoM-Index rose 0.70 points (0.66%) to 107.16. Liquidity decreased compared to the previous session, with HoSE’s matching value exceeding VND 32,600 billion.
