In July, Vietnam witnessed the establishment of 16.5 thousand new enterprises with a registered capital of 117.4 thousand billion VND and nearly 79 thousand registered employees. This reflects a decrease of 32.3% in the number of enterprises, a 33.6% drop in registered capital, and a 42.4% decline in registered employees compared to June 2025. However, compared to the same period last year, there was a 4.7% increase in the number of enterprises, despite an 11.6% decrease in registered capital and a 3.3% dip in registered employees.
The average registered capital for a new enterprise in July was 7.1 billion VND, representing a 1.8% decrease from the previous month and a 15.6% drop from the same period last year. Additionally, 14.6 thousand businesses resumed operations, indicating a 1.6% increase from the previous month and a significant 78.3% surge compared to July 2024.
Accumulated over the first seven months of 2025, Vietnam witnessed the establishment of 107.7 thousand new enterprises with a total registered capital of 928.4 thousand billion VND and 670.0 thousand registered employees. This demonstrates a year-on-year increase of 10.6% in the number of enterprises, a 5.5% rise in registered capital, and an 11.6% climb in registered employees. The average registered capital for a new enterprise during this period was 8.6 billion VND, a 4.6% decrease compared to the same period in 2024.
The total additional registered capital injected into the economy in the first seven months of the year exceeded 3.3 thousand billion VND, reflecting an impressive 93.7% year-on-year increase. Furthermore, 66.3 thousand businesses resumed operations, a 49.8% surge compared to the same period in 2024. This brought the total number of newly established and reactivated enterprises during the seven-month period to 174.0 thousand, representing a notable 22.9% increase year-on-year.
On average, approximately 24.9 thousand businesses were established or resumed operations each month.
Breaking down the economic sectors, from January to July 2025, 949 new enterprises were established in the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector, marking a 0.7% year-on-year increase. The industry and construction sector witnessed the establishment of 23.6 thousand new enterprises, a 3.1% increase, while the service sector saw the formation of 83.2 thousand new enterprises, representing a significant 13.1% climb.
In July 2025, 7.3 thousand enterprises registered for temporary suspension of business operations for a definite period, reflecting a 14.2% increase compared to the previous month and a 7.4% year-on-year rise. During the same period, 4.4 thousand enterprises temporarily ceased operations pending dissolution procedures, marking a 56.4% and 37.7% decrease, respectively. Additionally, 1.9 thousand enterprises completed dissolution procedures, indicating a 29.4% drop and a 5.4% increase compared to the previous year.
For the first seven months of 2025, 88.6 thousand enterprises temporarily suspended their business operations for a definite period, reflecting a 13.6% year-on-year increase. A total of 41.5 thousand enterprises temporarily ceased operations pending dissolution procedures, a 16.7% rise, while 14.3 thousand enterprises completed dissolution procedures, a 20.5% surge. On average, approximately 20.6 thousand businesses exited the market each month during this period.
