The People’s Committee of Gia Lai province has issued a report on the preparation for the implementation of the high-speed rail project on the North-South axis passing through the province.

In the document, the People’s Committee directs the Provincial Land Development Center to focus on planning, investment procedures, and construction, ensuring that by December 2025, all resettlement areas, cemeteries, and technical infrastructure relocation are completed and ready to serve the North-South high-speed rail project.

According to the report, to clear the land for the North-South high-speed rail project, the People’s Committee of Gia Lai province instructed the Provincial Land Development Center to finalize procedures for the construction of 38 resettlement areas covering a total area of 148 hectares, accommodating 1,380 affected households.

Approximately 3,100 plots of land are planned for resettlement, with a total cost of more than VND 2,500 billion. This includes over VND 1,070 billion for resettlement area clearance, VND 21 billion for cemetery and land mine clearance, and VND 1,410 billion for investment in the construction of resettlement and cemetery areas.

The People’s Committee of Gia Lai province plans to build 38 resettlement areas spanning 148 hectares, accommodating 1,380 households affected by the North-South high-speed rail project.

As per the People’s Committee of Gia Lai, the North-South high-speed rail passing through Gia Lai will start at Hoai Nhon Bac ward, bordering Quang Ngai province, and end at Quy Nhon Tay ward, bordering Dak Lak province. The total length of the route through the province is approximately 115 kilometers (from kilometer marker Km886+300 to Km1002).

The project route traverses 18 merged communes and wards, including Hoai Nhon Bac, Tam Quan, Hoai Nhon Tay, Hoai Nhon Nam, Bong Son, Van Duc, Phu My Bac, Phu My Tay, Phu My Nam, Hoa Hoi, Binh Hiep, Binh An, An Nhon, Binh Dinh, An Nhon Tay, An Nhon Nam, Tuy Phuoc Tay, and Quy Nhon Tay.

Two stations are planned in Gia Lai province: Bong Son station in Hoai Nhon Nam ward and Dieu Tri station in Tuy Phuoc Tay ward (located about 4 kilometers west of the current Dieu Tri station). The project’s land requirement in the province is approximately 758 hectares.

Previously, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Gia Lai province, assigned specific tasks to local authorities, departments, and units involved in land clearance for the North-South high-speed rail project.

Mr. Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Gia Lai province, stated that they have requested the Ministry of Construction to direct the Railway Project Management Board to promptly conduct land clearance staking at the site and hand it over to the province for land measurement, clearance, and resettlement arrangement to ensure timely project implementation. Additionally, they have requested the allocation of capital from the central government to enable the province to promptly invest in the construction of resettlement and cemetery areas.

During their collaboration with the province, the Railway Project Management Board should carefully consider the detailed design to minimize overlap and impact on existing urban plans, residential areas, and newly constructed resettlement areas for the North-South expressway project and other key provincial projects, Mr. Hoang emphasized.

Additionally, they should adjust the route of the North-South high-speed rail project to avoid overlap with the North-South expressway in the east. It is also necessary to conduct surveys and assess the impact on national and provincial historical relics, including the Ngã Ba Đình relic, the site of the attack on the headquarters of the puppet regime in Hoai Nhon Bac ward, and the Thành Cha relic in An Nhon Tay ward, he added.
