For many years, the intersection of Trinh Kiem Street, the East-West Boulevard, and Nguyen Trai Street, near the Thanh Hoa station area, has been a hotspot for traffic congestion, especially during peak hours. To address this issue, Thanh Hoa has initiated a project to construct a bridge over the North-South railway line to ease traffic flow in this critical area. The project has a total investment of VND 647.12 billion.

The construction contractor for this project is a joint venture between Dat Phuong Joint Stock Group and Minh Tuan Joint Stock Investment and Construction Corporation. The construction contract was signed on May 12, 2024, with a scheduled completion time of 400 days. However, the project is being accelerated, aiming for technical clearance by October 5.

The project has a total length of about 800 meters, with the bridge spanning over 276 meters. It is designed in a modern cable-stayed style, with a 25-meter-wide deck accommodating four vehicle lanes and two mixed lanes.
The bridge spans the North-South railway line, directly connecting to the East-West Boulevard, one of the main transportation arteries of Thanh Hoa.
Workers are expediting the construction of the bridge deck to ensure the technical clearance deadline of October 5.
Construction continues despite the hot weather to meet the project deadline.
At the peak of construction, the contractor deployed approximately 90 workers along with heavy machinery to ensure progress and quality.

The installation of cable stays to create a modern bridge design is in progress.
Regarding the approach roads: On the western bank of the railway, drainage and road foundation works have been completed, and road foundation construction is ongoing. On the eastern bank, cement-soil pile construction has been finished, and the reinforcement of the pile heads is in progress.
The approach roads are being asphalted and the urban infrastructure is being improved.
The intersection near Thanh Hoa station has long been a traffic bottleneck.

According to the representative of the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction in Dong Son District, since July 10, 2024, the contractor has simultaneously commenced construction on various components on-site. As of now, several bridge piers and the bridge deck have taken shape, and the construction of cable stays and approach roads is being expedited. The project has reached approximately 75-80% completion. It is expected to be technically cleared by October 5, 2025, and fully completed by December 15, 2025.

Upon completion, the bridge will not only fundamentally resolve the internal traffic congestion but also create an architectural highlight, connecting the infrastructure between the eastern and western areas of the city. This will contribute to the economic and social development of the region and cater to the growing travel demands of the local population.
