The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series is the largest variant in Toyota’s Land Cruiser family. This model is not marketed in North America, where buyers can opt for the slightly smaller 250 Series or the more luxurious Lexus LX. While it frequently appears in Middle Eastern markets, the Land Cruiser 300 Series surprisingly topped sales charts in Australia for 2024.

According to data compiled by Felipe Munoz of Car Industry Analysis, Toyota sold 105,700 units of the Land Cruiser 300 Series last year. This figure represents a slight 2% dip compared to 2023.

Australia took the lead with 13,790 units sold, narrowly surpassing Japan’s sales of 13,174 units.

Although Australia topped the list, Middle Eastern markets still accounted for a significant share of global sales. Specifically, 59% of all J300 units sold in 2024 were delivered to countries in this region. Saudi Arabia ranked third globally with 12,381 units, followed by the United Arab Emirates (9,319 units), Oman (8,882 units), Qatar (8,685 units), Kuwait (8,028 units), Iraq (7,133 units), and Jordan (2,849 units) rounding out the top 10.

Aside from Australia and Japan, the only other market in the top 10 outside the Middle East was Russia. Despite Toyota halting official deliveries there since the Ukraine conflict began, the 300 Series still managed to find 3,682 buyers, placing Russia in ninth position.

Munoz opined that the global sales of the Land Cruiser 300 could have been even higher if Toyota offered the model in the US and Canada, where the automaker currently provides the slightly larger Sequoia.

The Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series debuted in 2021, built on the TNGA-F platform. The 2025 version of this SUV features a digital instrument cluster. The 2026 model year will introduce a self-charging hybrid option along with minor styling updates.

The hybrid variant is the most powerful Land Cruiser to date, boasting a combined output of 457 horsepower from its twin-turbocharged V6 engine and an electric motor.

Whether the introduction of the updated model and the hybrid option will positively impact J300 sales this year remains to be seen. Toyota may also face competition from the recently launched Nissan Patrol, which has just introduced a new generation after 15 years.
