According to the Hue City Portal, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hue City, Phan Quy Phuong, had a working session with Carlsberg Vietnam Brewery Limited Company to promote the progress of the project. to expand the beer factory’s capacity in Phu Bai Industrial Park.

At the meeting on August 7, 2025, representatives from Carlsberg Vietnam shared that the first half of 2025 continued to be a challenging period for the beer industry due to weak purchasing power, changing consumer trends, and increasing competitive pressure. The company’s total consumption volume only reached approximately 133 million liters, a decrease compared to the same period last year.

However, the company maintained stable employment for over 1,600 workers and contributed more than VND 1,500 billion to the state budget, a figure that the city’s leaders appreciated amid the common context.

At the working session, Carlsberg Vietnam proposed that the city support promoting the consumption of their products and controlling the production and sale of handcrafted beer of unknown origin, counterfeiting, and imitation, which are significantly affecting the brand’s reputation.

Regarding the Carlsberg beer factory in Phu Bai Industrial Park, according to a report from Carlsberg Vietnam, the project to expand the Hue beer factory has a total investment of more than VND 3,400 billion. The project is in the final equipment installation and testing phase. The new production line, which increases capacity from 410 million liters to 600 million liters/year, is expected to be officially operational by September 2025.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Phan Quy Phuong, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hue City, highly appreciated the role of Carlsberg Vietnam. He affirmed that the city would listen and direct the relevant departments to coordinate closely with the company to promptly address difficulties and obstacles, ranging from technical infrastructure to administrative procedures and investment environment.

As a well-known Danish brand, Carlsberg entered the Vietnamese market in 1993. For the first two decades, Carlsberg operated in Vietnam through Carlsberg Indochina. Carlsberg currently holds a significant market share in Central Vietnam with its affordable brand, Huda. According to reports, the company ranks fourth in the Vietnamese market with approximately 8% market share.

This expansion project is expected to transform the factory into Carlsberg’s largest facility in Asia and one of the group’s most productive sites globally.

The products of the Carlsberg Vietnam Brewery include Carlsberg, 1664 Blanc, Tuborg, Tuborg Ice, Somersby, Huda, Huda Ice Blast, Huda Gold, and Halida.

Carlsberg currently holds a significant market share in Central Vietnam with its affordable brand, Huda. According to reports, the company ranks fourth in the Vietnamese market, with approximately 8% market share.
