On the afternoon of August 5, Mr. Tran Duy Dong, Vice Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Phu Tho province, made a field trip to inspect the construction progress of the new Phong Chau Bridge and encourage the engineers and workers on the construction site.

The new Phong Chau Bridge construction project is an important transportation project that was urgently deployed after the old bridge collapsed due to the impact of Storm No. 3 Yagi in September 2024.

After more than seven months of construction, the project is taking shape over the Hong River, with a completion rate of about 75-76% so far. The new bridge has a total length of 652.88 meters, a width of 20.5 meters, and a scale of four lanes for motor vehicles. It is constructed using reinforced concrete and pre-stressed concrete. The total investment capital for the project is over VND 635 billion, sourced from the central budget. The project is managed by the Thang Long Project Management Unit and constructed by the Truong Son Corporation with more than 200 engineers and workers organized into three shifts and four teams, working continuously day and night.

At the site, Chairman Tran Duy Dong acknowledged and commended the efforts of the investor and contractor in overcoming challenges. He also requested them to continue demonstrating their sense of responsibility, accelerate construction while ensuring technical, aesthetic, and labor safety standards. He emphasized the significance of this vital transportation project for the local socio-economic development and set the completion target for the 80th National Day (September 2, 2025) and the official operation in early October 2025.

The Chairman of Phu Tho province requested the Department of Construction and related sectors to coordinate closely in resolving any difficulties and addressing the recommendations of the investor promptly. They should also calculate the cost of materials accurately, ensuring alignment with the actual situation at each stage of construction.

The Phu Tho Department of Construction was assigned to inspect the quarries in the province, provide gravel for the construction of the revetment, and make additional estimates for the project.

Representatives of the construction units pledged to concentrate all resources, increase shifts, and mobilize more teams to complete the remaining items as planned, aiming for early completion and handover of the project to Phu Tho province for operation.

Once completed, the new Phong Chau Bridge will entirely replace the old damaged bridge, restoring the full capacity of National Highway 32C. It will also facilitate the socio-economic development of the western region of Phu Tho province and contribute to the province’s goal of a comprehensive and modern transportation infrastructure network.
