On August 7, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha inspected the construction site of the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project, which connects Dong Thap and Vinh Long provinces.

According to a report by the My Thuan Project Management Unit (under the Ministry of Construction), the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project is ahead of schedule. As of now, all 6 bridges along the route have been completed. The total construction output reached 99.55% of the contract value, and the cumulative disbursement reached 99.46%. It is expected that the acceptance inspection will be held on August 12, and the inauguration of the project will take place on August 19, 2025.

The Deputy Prime Minister recognized the efforts of the units involved in shortening the construction period by nearly five months, ensuring technical, aesthetic, and safety standards. He commended the collective efforts and individual initiatives that led to technical improvements and efficient construction.

Regarding operation and maintenance, the Deputy Prime Minister requested a thorough review of the processes to ensure clarity in terms of the receiving, managing, and conducting periodic maintenance units. He emphasized the need for a strict monitoring and evaluation system to prevent negligence after the handover.

The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, according to the Deputy Prime Minister, demonstrates the capacity of Vietnamese engineers to adapt and innovate, leading to shorter construction periods, reduced costs, and improved quality. This sets a precedent for the Vietnamese bridge and road sector to rise to the challenge of developing modern infrastructure in the future.

To meet the demands of sustainable infrastructure development, Vietnam’s bridge and road sector must continue to train specialized engineers, managers, and construction units. These professionals should possess the expertise to master technology, be proactive in innovation, and contribute to the country’s strategic goals.

The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project, connecting Vinh Long and Dong Thap provinces, starts at the Dong Tam intersection (the junction of National Highway 1 and Provincial Road 870) in Dong Thap province and ends at km16+660 of National Highway 60, about 0.71km from the north abutment of Ham Luong Bridge in Vinh Long province.

The main Rach Mieu 2 Bridge is designed as a cable-stayed bridge with a total length of 1,971.2 meters. The road is a Grade III plain road with four lanes. The total length of the project is approximately 17.6 kilometers, and the total investment capital is 6,810.11 billion VND, sourced from the state budget.
