The Vinh – Thanh Thuy Highway Project is a significant national project, with the Prime Minister assigning the People’s Committee of Nghe An Province as the managing authority.

Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Nguyen Duc Trung, emphasized that this is a crucial national project with the largest investment scale that Nghe An Province has been entrusted to lead.

The project is essential for connecting to the North-South Expressway in the East, creating new momentum and space for the province’s development.

The route will connect and reduce travel time between the two capitals and localities, strengthening the friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

Additionally, it will effectively exploit land potential, boost tourism, industry, and mineral resources, creating a high spillover effect to promote socio-economic development and ensure national defense and security.

The highway is approximately 60 km long, starting at the Hung Tay intersection in Hung Nguyen commune, where it intersects with the North-South Expressway’s Dien Chau – Bai Vot section, and ending at the entrance to the Thanh Thuy Border Gate Economic Zone.

The project passes through nine communes in Nghe An Province: Hung Nguyen, Kim Lien, Dai Hue, Van An, Nam Dan, Xuan Lam, Hoa Quan, Son Lam, and Kim Bang.

With a total investment of VND 23,950 billion, the project is scheduled for implementation from 2025 to 2030. This includes project preparation in 2025, land clearance from 2025 to 2026, construction commencement in 2026, substantial completion by 2028, and operation by 2029.

Designed as a six-lane expressway with a speed limit of 100 km/h (60-80 km/h in challenging sections), the project will occupy approximately 615 hectares of land.

Compensation, support, and resettlement will be separated into component projects within the investment policy and assigned to local authorities for implementation.
