On August 11th, authorities from Binh Khe Ward People’s Committee (Gia Lai
Province) announced their proposal to the provincial People’s Committee to
revoke the land lease granted to Binh Dinh Sugar Joint Stock Company for the
construction of a sugar factory and plywood workshop.

The Binh Dinh Sugar Joint Stock Company was previously leased land by the
former Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee for the construction of a
plywood workshop, as per Decision No. 2544/QD-UBND dated July 17, 2002,
covering an area of 20,686 square meters. The lease area was later adjusted,
and a land use right certificate was issued for the sugar factory under
Decision No. 2148/QD-UBND dated July 27, 2004, with a total area of 70,221
square meters.

Since 2019, the Binh Dinh Sugar Joint Stock Company has ceased operations
and initiated bankruptcy proceedings as per regulations.

According to the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee’s decision on
assigning key socio-economic development targets and key tasks for 2025 to
the new wards and communes in the province, one of the key tasks assigned
to Binh Khe Ward is to attract investment for the Van Phong Dam Water
Surface Exploitation Project.

According to the Binh Khe Ward People’s Committee, a practical survey
revealed that the northern part of the land leased to the Binh Dinh Sugar
Joint Stock Company borders the Kon River with a length of nearly 400
meters, providing an advantageous location for the Van Phong Dam Water
Surface Exploitation Project. Additionally, several investors have expressed
interest in implementing projects in this area.

To ensure legal grounds for proper land management and utilization, prevent
land encroachment, and avoid wastage of land resources, the Binh Khe Ward
People’s Committee proposed to the provincial People’s Committee to
consider revoking the land lease granted to the Binh Dinh Sugar Joint Stock
Company for the sugar factory and plywood workshop, totaling an area of
90,907 square meters, and transfer the management rights to the Ward
People’s Committee as per regulations.
