According to The Information, Apple is reportedly planning to split its iPhone launch schedule into two releases per year. The iPhone Pro and Pro Max models will stick to their traditional fall release, while the standard or Air versions will debut in the spring. If this scenario plays out, the standard iPhone 18 is likely to launch alongside Samsung’s Galaxy S26.

Additionally, Apple is rumored to discontinue the Plus series, replacing them with Air or 18e models. The spring launch lineup would then consist of the iPhone 18 and 18e, while the Air variant could join the Pro release in the fall.

Analysts believe Apple’s strategy is to compete directly with Samsung’s Galaxy flagships, leveraging their launch window to capture market attention. This move could also help Apple better allocate production resources and create additional yearly highlights.

Moreover, analyst Samik Chatterjee from JPMorgan revealed that Apple plans to launch its first foldable iPhone in September 2026. Alongside the iPhone 17, investor interest has already shifted towards the 2026 lineup.

This foldable iPhone is predicted to feature a book-like folding design, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold, and is expected to be priced at $1,999 (approximately 52 million VND), $500 less than previous estimates. With this pricing strategy, Apple is projected to sell between 10 and 15 million units in the 2027 fiscal year and potentially reach 40 million units by 2029, generating up to $65 billion in revenue.
