Vingroup’s Expansion into Infrastructure and Green Energy: A Strategic Move Towards National Development

On August 11, 2025, marking its 32nd anniversary, Vingroup announced its expansion into two new key areas: Infrastructure and Green Energy. This strategic move underscores the group’s spirit of contribution and service, positioning the private sector as a new driving force for Vietnam’s development.

With a strong desire to serve the nation, Vingroup has decided to add two critical pillars: Infrastructure and Green Energy, alongside its existing leading pillars of Technology & Industry, Commerce & Services, and Social Philanthropy. The group’s foray into these nation-building sectors marks a significant milestone in Vingroup’s new era, enhancing the country’s competitive advantage and elevating Vietnam’s standing on the global stage.

In the Infrastructure pillar, Vingroup aims to pioneer the transformation of green transportation infrastructure in Vietnam, focusing on high-speed railways, bridges, ports, and logistics.

Vingroup’s subsidiary, VinSpeed High-Speed Railway Development and Investment Joint Stock Company, is proposing to invest in two high-speed railway routes in 2025. In Northern Vietnam, the company will develop the Hanoi-Quang Ninh line, spanning 120.4 km. This route will significantly reduce travel time between the two key economic regions from 4 hours to just over 20 minutes, facilitating trade, tourism, and services. In Southern Vietnam, the company will construct the Ho Chi Minh City-Can Gio line, designed for a speed of 350 km/h, connecting the city center to the beach in just over 10 minutes, compared to several hours currently.

Notably, VinSpeed has registered and is prepared to invest in the high-speed North-South railway project, a national priority project that will reduce the travel time between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to just over 5 hours.

In addition to high-speed railways, Vingroup will invest in a port and logistics center in Nam Do Son (Hai Phong) and Vung Ang (Ha Tinh), boosting trade and exports from key economic regions.

The Hoang Gia Bridge, inaugurated on July 15, 2025, is one of the iconic infrastructure projects developed by Vingroup in Hai Phong.

Turning to the Green Energy pillar, VinEnergo Joint Stock Company envisions becoming a comprehensive investor and developer of green energy, contributing to Vietnam’s net-zero emission goals and enhancing the country’s standing in the global energy landscape.

VinEnergo will diversify its portfolio by developing large-scale solar and wind energy projects, adopting modern technologies, and adhering to international safety and quality standards. The company will also invest in battery energy storage systems (BESS) produced by VinFast, offering comprehensive energy solutions and ensuring a stable supply of clean energy. VinEnergo plans to invest in renewable energy projects and BESS solutions in Vietnam, India, Indonesia, and the Philippines, with a projected total capacity of up to 80 GW.

Moreover, VinEnergo will collaborate with other members of the Vingroup ecosystem to provide electricity for key infrastructure projects, including high-speed railways, international seaports, industrial parks, and residential areas, setting new standards for energy and infrastructure development in Vietnam and the region.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Quang, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Vingroup, shared: “In response to the four resolutions of the Politburo: Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW, Resolution No. 66-NQ/TW, and Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW, Vingroup has decided to invest in two nation-building sectors: Infrastructure and Green Energy. With Vietnamese intellect and strong national pride, we are determined to successfully implement these critical national projects, propelling Vietnam into an era of prosperity and global recognition.”

In the field of Social Philanthropy, Vinmec, Vinschool, and VinUni are leading private healthcare and education systems in the country. In philanthropy, the Group has donated nearly VND 30,000 billion to charitable and social activities since its establishment. Notably, the Thien Tam Fund was honored by the President with the First-Class Labor Order, recognizing 19 years of unwavering dedication to millions of underprivileged people.

The addition of the two new pillars, bringing the total number of key areas to five, underscores Vingroup’s commitment to contributing to and serving the nation, aligning with its mission of “For a better life for everyone” and shaping a sustainable future for generations to come.
