As of June 2025, customer deposits across 28 banks, including Agribank and 27 publicly traded banks, surpassed 141 quadrillion VND, marking an 8% increase since the beginning of the year. In contrast, total customer deposits within the broader financial system amounted to over 15 quadrillion VND.
Notably, during the second quarter of 2025, two banks, BIDV and Agribank, crossed the 2 quadrillion VND milestone in customer deposits for the first time. Deposits in these banks grew by 6.2% and 6.5%, respectively, in the first half of the year.
Within the private sector, Sacombank and VPBank led the pack, both surpassing 600,000 trillion VND in customer deposits in Q2 2025.
The Big 4 banks continued to dominate the market, capturing nearly half of the total deposit market share.
Most banks reported growth in capital mobilization during the first six months. Notably, several banks achieved growth rates above 10%, including Sacombank, SHB, LPBank, VIB, and MSB. Additionally, VPBank, NamABank, and ABBank stood out with impressive growth rates above 20%.
Agribank witnessed the most significant increase in deposit balance, with customer deposits surging by nearly 125 trillion VND in the first half of 2025, reaching over 2 quadrillion VND. BIDV also posted remarkable growth, adding over 121 trillion VND to cross the 2 quadrillion VND threshold.
VPBank, the third-largest depositor in the system, saw its customer deposits surge by 115 trillion VND, surpassing 600 trillion VND. Meanwhile, VietinBank and Vietcombank recorded increases of 113.8 trillion VND and 72 trillion VND, respectively.
For 2025, VPBank has set ambitious growth targets. The bank aims to increase customer deposits and capital market instruments by 34% while targeting a 25% growth in credit and a 23% expansion in total assets.
