Vietnam Secures Export Order of 5,000 UAVs to South Korea

On August 12, Vietnam, for the first time, secured an export order of 5,000 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to South Korea. Mastering UAV technology is ushering in a new era for Vietnam – an era of space automation, where flying robots create a new level of social productivity thousands of percent higher than before.

A memorandum on this order was signed between the CT Group Vietnam and an emerging South Korean UAV technology company. This event took place at the Vietnam-Korea Economic Forum on August 12 in Seoul, South Korea, witnessed by General Secretary To Lam and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung.

Today, UAVs have become one of the most important technologies with wide-ranging applications across industries, from urban and consumer sectors to military and security fields, and even to the defense of a nation or a vast region.

Globally, UAVs are being rapidly adopted in various fields such as passenger and cargo transportation, distribution, agriculture, healthcare, surveillance and rescue, firefighting, technology tourism, surveillance and security, and carbon credits.

With the rapid development of technology in South Korea – a global technology hub, mastering all core technologies and securing an export order for unmanned cargo aircraft to a sophisticated and demanding market like South Korea is a vivid testament to Vietnam’s advancement in the new era. It also opens up vast opportunities for CT Group to export to other countries worldwide.

have been highly appraised by South Korea and other nations.

CT UAV’s autonomy in semiconductor chip design technology gives it a unique competitive edge. This significant event indicates Vietnam’s readiness to engage in high-level technology endeavors. It not only boosts the country’s economic growth but also enhances its reputation and standing in the international arena.

At this event, CT Group also secured an additional order for
exporting 100 million ATP semiconductor chips

to its South Korean partner. This field is extremely complex and dominated by a handful of developed countries, representing the pinnacle of global technology. Vietnam’s bold entry into the semiconductor arena underscores its ambitious and innovative spirit, determined to conquer challenging fields like semiconductors.

A Model of Innovative Private Enterprise

In May, the company introduced a UAV prototype capable of carrying passengers, developed by its member company CT UAV. With a speed of 190 km/h, a continuous flight time of 2 hours, and a range of 350 km, this vehicle promises to usher in a new era of smart and environmentally friendly urban transportation. The full-scale version is expected to debut in October 2025, marking a significant step in applying advanced technology to daily life.

CT Semiconductor, another member of CT Group, unveiled Vietnam’s first ATP semiconductor chip factory, with Vietnamese ownership of the technology. Phase 2 construction began on April 30 in Binh Duong, aiming to produce 100 million chips annually by 2027. Notably, allocating over 10% of the budget to research and development demonstrates a long-term strategy to master core technologies such as AI, 6G, and UAVs.

The factory is built on a 30,000 square meter site at the CT Group High-Tech Development Center in Thuan An, Binh Duong, with a total investment of nearly $100 million for phase 2. The project involves experts with over 30 years of experience in the semiconductor industry and is advised by a corporation that has constructed most of TSMC’s factories.
