The Lamborghini Miura, unveiled nearly six decades ago, is regarded as the car that “redefined” the concept of supercars. As Lamborghini’s first sports car equipped with a V12 engine, it laid the foundation for mid-engine models and has since become one of the most sought-after collector’s items in the world.
Over time, the value of the Miura has steadily increased. A New York owner quietly kept his Miura in storage for over 40 years before putting it up for sale. With its beauty and rarity, one can hardly blame the man for holding onto it so meticulously.
Prospective buyers visited his home and found the Miura amidst the furniture, having been protected from New York’s harsh winters by an air conditioning system for decades.
Upon inspection, they concluded that this was a Lamborghini Miura P400 S painted in Luchi Del Bosco – a dark metallic color believed to have been applied to only three Series II cars. Matching chassis and engine numbers confirmed its authenticity and further enhanced its appeal to collectors.
Removing it from the living room required breaking down a wall that separated it from the garage. Despite being dormant for decades, the Miura S appeared to be in remarkably good condition, retaining its original paint and interior.

While restoration is necessary to make the car roadworthy again, the fact that most of its components are original will make the process relatively straightforward for classic car experts or Lamborghini’s restoration department.
This particular Miura sold for $1-1.2 million. The seller mentioned that he had purchased this used car for only $10,000 – equivalent to approximately $35,000 in today’s money. Thus, the car’s value has increased by about 100 times after four decades of storage.
Following the sale, the Miura was loaded onto a specialized transporter and taken to a secure storage facility. Nowadays, a Miura can fetch between $1.5 and over $4 million at auctions. A similar Miura S found in Germany in 2019 sold for $1.6 million at auction.
