According to revelations from several retail systems, Apple has proposed two deployment options to its partners: Stick to the traditional second-wave release schedule or launch immediately after the unveiling event.
This implies that if all goes well, domestic users may get their hands on the iPhone 17 at the same time as leading global markets. The option for an early release is currently receiving more attention.
Regarding the timing, sources from iPhone Ticker (Germany) indicated that local carriers have been notified that Apple will host an event to introduce the new iPhone on Tuesday, September 9. Journalist Mark Gurman of Bloomberg also confirmed that Apple would avoid September 11, and the company’s tradition is to not hold events on Fridays. Thus, it is likely that the iPhone 17 launch event will take place on September 9.

Following the tradition of releasing on the Friday of the following week, September 19 is expected to be the on-shelf date for the iPhone 17, and it could also be the release date in Vietnam. In recent years, the initial sales of official iPhones in Vietnam have continuously surged, making this market a bright spot in the region.
In 2023 and 2024, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 were both released in the official market just a week after the earliest markets, causing the habit of buying smuggled goods to gradually disappear. Many retail systems also recorded revenue exceeding the thousand billion VND mark on the first day of sales.
This year’s lineup is divided into four versions: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and a new variant, the iPhone 17 Air, which replaces the previous Plus series. Apple is expected to use the name “Air” to emphasize the super-slim and lightweight design of this model and reposition the segment to compete with the rival Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, a large-screen device from Samsung priced from $899 to $950.
The most notable specification of the iPhone 17 Air is its slim profile of just 5.5 mm, making it one of the thinnest smartphones in the current market. While it retains a large screen size, it features only a single rear camera, trading off versatile photography capabilities to optimize its ultra-slim design. Apple may integrate additional AI algorithms to enhance image quality in the absence of a secondary lens.
