
Vietnam’s exports of toys, sports equipment, and parts reached over $4.4 billion in the first seven months of 2025, a significant 117.6% surge year-on-year. In July alone, these exports earned the country over $1 billion, marking a 27.8% increase from the previous month.
The United States is currently Vietnam’s largest market for these goods, witnessing robust growth. Specifically, exports to the US surged by 283% in July. Cumulatively, from January to July, Vietnam’s exports to the US market reached over $3 billion, tripling the figure from the same period last year. This market accounts for nearly 68% of Vietnam’s total exports in this sector, dwarfing the contributions from the other 21 markets.
Japan and the United Kingdom are the second and third largest markets, respectively. Exports to Japan reached $297 million, an 8% decrease year-on-year, while the UK market witnessed a 43% increase, with exports nearing $150 million.
Vietnam’s toy exports have successfully penetrated some of the most demanding markets, including the US, Japan, South Korea, Germany, and the Netherlands. These countries are known for their technological prowess, but intricate craftsmanship is not their forte. Vietnamese toys, on the other hand, often boast high-tech features, keeping up with trends, and intricate craftsmanship, helping them gain popularity worldwide.

Lately, Vietnam has also emerged as a hub for manufacturing gaming devices, attracting leading global producers.
In July 2024, the northern province of Quang Ninh granted an investment registration certificate to Foxconn Group for two projects totaling $551 million. One of these projects is the Smart Entertainment Products Project, located in the Song Khoai Industrial Park (Amata) with an area of 21.5 hectares and a total investment of $263.7 million. This project is designed to produce 4.18 million units annually.
This facility is expected to manufacture the famous Nintendo Switch handheld gaming consoles. Introduced by the Japanese video game company Nintendo in 2017, the Nintendo Switch has gained immense popularity worldwide.
According to FT, before April 2, 2025, Nintendo had shipped a significant volume of Switch 2 consoles from Vietnam to the US. David Gibson, an analyst at MST Financial, commented, “Export data combined with finished product codes confirm Nintendo shipped finished Switch 2 consoles from Vietnam over five days in January, totaling 383,000 units, all of which went to the US.”
In October 2024, on the sidelines of the Vietnam Innovation Day 2024, Nick Clegg, President of Global Affairs at Meta (Facebook’s parent company), shared some commitments and plans for the Vietnamese market. He confirmed that Meta’s Quest 3S VR headset would be manufactured in Vietnam. “We will work with local partners to produce Quest 3S in Vietnam. This will create over 1,000 new jobs and put Vietnam at the center of the global map for metaverse products and technologies,” said Nick Clegg.
