The businessman graduated with a Master of Business Administration from Chapman University (USA) in 2002. In 2011, he completed his doctoral dissertation in economics at Golden Gate University (USA).

In 2012, Mr. Trần Hùng Huy officially took over as Chairman of ACB. At 34, he became the youngest bank chairman in Vietnam at that time.

According to the Semi-Annual Corporate Governance Report for the first half of 2025, Mr. Trần Hùng Huy owns 176,021,482 ACB shares, representing a 3.43% ownership stake.
