On August 12, Vietnam secured its first export order for 5,000 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to South Korea. This milestone agreement was signed between Vietnam’s CT Group and a rising South Korean UAV technology company, during the Vietnam-Korea Economic Forum in Seoul.

The event marks a significant chapter in Vietnam’s technological history, showcasing its mastery of UAV technology – a field with diverse applications across multiple economic sectors.

Globally, UAVs are being rapidly adopted in various industries, including transportation of passengers and cargo, distribution and logistics, agriculture and forestry, healthcare, surveillance and rescue operations, fire fighting, tech-based tourism, security and carbon credits, to name a few.

The heavy-lift UAVs, weighing between 60 and 300 kg, are produced by CT UAV (a CT Group subsidiary) with an impressive 85% localization rate. They are designed using exclusive technology and in-house-designed semiconductor chips, enhancing their competitive edge. This offering has been highly regarded by South Korea and other nations alike.

“Securing an export order for UAVs to a sophisticated and demanding market like South Korea demonstrates Vietnam’s readiness to engage in high-level technological endeavors,” said a company representative. “It also opens doors for exporting our tech products to numerous other countries worldwide.”

Additionally, CT Group is developing AI-integrated UAVs capable of self-learning and decision-making. These UAVs combine semiconductor technology with a location identification system, enabling comprehensive digital transformation across diverse terrains, from urban areas to forests, rivers, and oceans.

During the forum, CT Group also signed an export deal for 100 million semiconductor chips with a South Korean partner, marking Vietnam’s foray into the demanding field of semiconductor technology, which requires advanced expertise and pioneering thinking.
