On August 14, the exchange rate of the Vietnamese Dong (VND) against the US Dollar and the Chinese Yuan (CNY) at banks continued its upward trend.

Specifically, the State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate on August 13 at 25,240 VND per USD, down 7 VND from the previous day.

With the trading band of +/- 5% allowed by the State Bank, the ceiling and floor rates applicable to commercial banks for the day are 26,502 VND/USD and 23,978 VND/USD, respectively.

The buying and selling rates at the State Bank of Vietnam are currently quoted at 24,028 VND/USD and 26,452 VND/USD, respectively.

At commercial banks, as of 9:00 AM on August 14, Vietcombank and BIDV listed the buying rate at 26,100 VND/USD and the selling rate at 26,460 VND/USD, an increase of 10 VND from the previous day for both rates at Vietcombank, while BIDV raised their rates by 20 VND.

The exchange rates for the Chinese Yuan also witnessed an upward trend on August 14. Vietcombank’s buying and selling rates were quoted at 3,606-3,721 VND/CNY, an increase of 4 and 3 VND, respectively, compared to the previous day. Meanwhile, BIDV adjusted their rates by 5 VND for both buying and selling, resulting in rates of 3,614-3,712 VND/CNY.
