On August 14, the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Province’s Public Security announced the temporary arrest of Lang Ngoc Diem (born 1986, residing in Binh Duc Ward, An Giang) for alleged fraud and appropriation of assets.

Previously, the Investigation Agency received a report from local residents accusing Diem of fraud and asset appropriation.
According to the investigation, around 2024, Diem allegedly pretended to be a staff member of a bank in Long Xuyen and convinced four people to invest nearly VND 30 billion for loan repayment, then appropriated the money and fled the area.
