This National Day holiday, civil servants, officials, and employees are entitled to a four-day break. Instead of returning to their hometowns or traveling domestically and abroad, many plan to visit Hanoi with their families and friends to attend the grand military parade and other events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day. As a result, there is high demand for air tickets on the Ho Chi Minh City – Hanoi route, causing a significant surge in prices.
According to a survey, round-trip tickets for this route, departing from Ho Chi Minh City on August 30 and returning from Hanoi on September 3, range from VND 5.2 million to VND 7.032 million. These prices are comparable to those during the Lunar New Year holiday in 2025 and reflect an increase of VND 1.7 million to nearly VND 3 million compared to regular days.
Specifically, Vietjet Air’s round-trip ticket prices fluctuate between VND 5.2 million and VND 5.6 million, depending on the departure time (including taxes and fees). Vietravel Airlines’ tickets range from VND 5.5 million to VND 6.5 million, while Bamboo Airways’ prices vary from VND 5.9 million to VND 6.5 million. Vietnam Airlines offers the highest price at VND 7.032 million for a round-trip ticket.

Notably, if passengers depart from Ho Chi Minh City a day or two earlier (on August 28 or 29) and return from Hanoi a day or two later (on September 4 or 5), the ticket prices for all carriers drop by VND 1.2 million to VND 2.5 million per round trip.
For instance, Vietravel Airlines’ ticket price is VND 4.2 million (including taxes and fees), a reduction of VND 1.3 million to VND 2.3 million compared to departing on August 30 and returning on September 3. Vietjet Air’s round-trip ticket costs VND 4.062 million, also a decrease of VND 1 million to VND 1.6 million. Bamboo Airways’ ticket is priced at VND 5.017 million, a drop of VND 900,000 to VND 1.5 million, while Vietnam Airlines’ ticket is VND 4,477 million, a savings of over VND 2.5 million.
Aside from the Ho Chi Minh City – Hanoi route, airfares to beach destinations like Nha Trang and Da Nang have also surged during this period.
Specifically, round-trip airfares for the Hanoi – Da Nang route on August 30 – September 2 range from VND 3.5 million to VND 5.6 million. Hanoi – Nha Trang tickets cost between VND 4.7 million and VND 7.1 million, while Hanoi – Phu Quoc tickets range from VND 5.3 million to VND 6.3 million. For Ho Chi Minh City – Phu Quoc, prices are VND 2.8 million to VND 4.2 million, and for Ho Chi Minh City – Da Nang, they are VND 3.1 million to VND 4.1 million. These rates reflect an increase of VND 350,000 to VND 2.2 million compared to regular days.
On other routes, airfares remain unchanged or exhibit minor fluctuations compared to regular days. For instance, round-trip tickets for the Da Nang – Hanoi route are priced between VND 2.9 million and VND 4.4 million, Nha Trang – Hanoi from VND 2.7 million to VND 5 million, Hanoi – Da Lat from VND 2.9 million to VND 5.6 million, Hue – Hanoi from VND 2.5 million to VND 4.4 million, Quy Nhon – Hanoi from VND 2.4 million to VND 5 million, and Buon Ma Thuot – Hanoi from VND 3.6 million to VND 4.6 million.
How to Avoid Missing Out on Your Vacation?
Mr. Tran The Dung, General Director of Vietluxtour Joint Stock Company, shared with VTC News that airfares and hotel room rates in Hanoi during this period are higher due to increased demand from tourists. Specifically, bookings for combo air tickets and hotel rooms through their company have increased by 25-30% compared to the same period last year, especially for the Ho Chi Minh City – Hanoi route and centrally located hotels in Hanoi.
“Airlines and travel companies advise passengers to plan their trips early and book their tickets in advance to secure the best prices. Passengers traveling to the airport should arrange their transportation and consider the time needed to avoid missing their flights,” Mr. Dung added.
With a series of events celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, Hanoi’s tourism industry is experiencing an unprecedented boom. The grand military parade, in particular, has made the capital a magnet for tourists from all over the country.
Given the surge in travel demand during the holiday period, Hanoi will restrict private vehicles on multiple routes. Tourists are advised to stay updated on traffic information and opt for public transportation. Additionally, booking air tickets and accommodations in advance is essential to avoid sold-out situations.
For those booking tours online, it is crucial to verify the information provided by the organizing company, prioritizing official websites to prevent potential risks. Tourists should also maintain good health, carry necessary identification documents, and be ready to immerse themselves in the vibrant festive atmosphere of the capital.
