The VTC News reporter’s observations at night revealed a bustling scene at the Long Thanh International Airport construction site (Dong Nai), with the sound of machinery and bright lights everywhere. Thousands of engineers and workers toiled through the night, divided into groups, each tackling critical tasks.

For the construction of Runway 2, the contractor consortium has mobilized maximum machinery, equipment, and personnel, working around the clock to meet the deadlines set by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Under the lights, on the construction site of Runway 2 at Long Thanh Airport, large concrete pavers operated continuously, spreading and compacting layers of material according to precise technical standards.

Nguyen Van Hue, a worker involved in the construction of Runway 2, shared that night shifts have become familiar to him and his colleagues over the past several months.

“We are all highly determined to complete this project on time, as per the contractor’s requirements. It is a great honor to work on a national key project like the Long Thanh Airport, so everyone is doing their best, despite the more challenging working conditions at night. Just thinking about contributing to the completion of a project of national and international significance makes all the fatigue disappear,” said Hue.

Workers are busy around the clock with the construction of Runway 2.

Runway 2 of the Long Thanh Airport, which broke ground on May 30, is being constructed by a consortium of ACC, Truong Son, Vinaconex, Vinadic, ACJC647, Khanh Thien, and VTG. This is one of the key components of the project, requiring an expedited schedule and high technical standards to ensure timely operation as planned.

According to the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), the Runway 2 construction site is simultaneously working on foundation and pavement construction, drainage systems, and cement concrete M150.

The construction unit representative stated that they have increased personnel, equipment, and overtime to ensure the project stays on schedule.

Additionally, ACV mentioned that the vast Long Thanh Airport construction site currently employs nearly 13,000 experts, engineers, and workers, along with approximately 3,000 pieces of machinery and equipment, to undertake various packages. Specifically, for Package 5.10 – construction of the passenger terminal, the contractor consortium has arranged 4,428 personnel and over 1,000 equipment units to ensure progress for this “heart” of the entire project.

The construction of the passenger terminal at Long Thanh Airport has reached about 80% completion for the structural framework. Finishing works such as water painting, ceiling installation, and installation of central and wing glass walls are being carried out simultaneously, closely following the set schedule.

The Long Thanh International Airport, under construction in Dong Nai province, is expected to become Vietnam’s largest airport upon completion, with a design capacity of up to 100 million passengers per year. According to plans, the project will be substantially completed, meeting standards and conditions for the inauguration ceremony on December 19, 2025.
