In July 2025, Vietnam’s automotive sales rankings witnessed a remarkable surge in electric vehicles, especially from VinFast. Meanwhile, traditional gasoline-powered vehicles maintained their appeal, particularly in the pickup, CUV, and MPV segments. This month also saw the highest number of models selling over 1,500 units per month since the beginning of the year.

1. VinFast VF 3 – 3,140 units

For the second consecutive month, the VinFast VF 3 topped the overall market. Since the beginning of the year, this mini electric car has delivered 26,223 units. If it continues to maintain its average sales of around 3,000 units per month, the VF 3 will only need two more months to surpass the sales of its “older brother,” the VF 5, achieved in 2024.

The VF 3 is a mini 2-door electric CUV targeting urban customers with its compact size and reasonable price. It features a permanent magnet electric motor that produces 43 horsepower, paired with a rear-wheel drive system and an LFP battery with an 18.64 kWh capacity, offering an estimated range of 209 km per charge.

2. VinFast VF 5 – 2,552 units

During July 2025, VinFast VF 5 sold 2,552 units, a decrease of nearly 20% compared to the previous month. Cumulative sales of the VF 5 since the beginning of the year have reached 24,364 units.

Despite the monthly sales decline, the VinFast VF 5 is likely to outperform its competitors in the same segment. As of the first half of 2025, the VF 5 accounted for 80.4% of the market share in its segment, the second-highest across all segments.

3. VinFast Herio Green – 2,128 units

VinFast Herio Green recorded its first month of selling over 2,000 units in the Vietnamese market. Compared to the previous month, sales of this electric vehicle increased by 713 units, a growth of 50%.

4. VinFast VF 6 – 1,902 units

Despite the explosive sales of the Toyota Yaris Cross and Mitsubishi Xforce, the VinFast VF 6 remained the best-selling model in the B-segment SUV category in July 2025.

The VF 6 is offered in Vietnam in two versions: Eco (174 hp, 250 Nm) and Plus (201 hp, 310 Nm), with a ~59.6 kWh battery providing a maximum range of 399 km per charge.

5. Ford Ranger – 1,598 units

With 1,598 units sold, the Ford Ranger became the best-selling gasoline and diesel vehicle in the Vietnamese market in July 2025. So far this year, Ford’s pickup truck has delivered 9,383 units. The current gap between the Ranger and the Xpander is only 357 units. If it continues its strong performance of selling nearly 1,600 units per month, the Ford Ranger could become the best-selling gasoline and diesel vehicle in Vietnam for 2025.

6. Mazda CX-5 – 1,586 units

Mazda CX-5 sold 1,586 units in July 2025, an increase of 5.7% from the previous month. Notably, this CUV outsold the Mitsubishi Xpander by 33 units. In recent years, the race for the best-selling gasoline and diesel vehicle title has typically been between the Xpander and the Ranger. However, with the current sales performance of the CX-5, this “duel” could turn into a “triangular race.”

Currently, the cumulative sales of the Mazda CX-5 for the first seven months of 2025 stand at 8,970 units, trailing the Xpander and Ranger by 770 units and 413 units, respectively.

7. Mitsubishi Xpander – 1,553 units

The popular 7-seat MPV continued its presence in the group of best-selling models this month. After seven months, the Xpander has sold 9,740 units. While it currently holds the title of the best-selling gasoline and diesel vehicle, the gap between it and its closest competitors is not significant.

Previously, Mitsubishi’s distributor announced that the new Xpander could be launched in Vietnam as soon as September this year. It will be a mid-life cycle upgrade with minor changes to the exterior and safety features. With the introduction of the new model, the Xpander is expected to gain a boost in sales in the coming months.
