Pilot Lane Discipline and Speed Limits on Hanoi – Hai Phong and Phap Van – Cau Gie Expressways

On August 14th, the Highway Police Department announced that they will be implementing a pilot project for lane discipline and speed limits on the Hanoi – Hai Phong and Phap Van – Cau Gie expressways starting August 15th.

Prior to this, on August 13th, the Vietnam Directorate for Roads issued a decision approving the adjustment and supplement to the pilot plan for lane organization and speed limits on the Hanoi – Hai Phong and Phap Van – Cau Gie highways.

At the proposal of the Highway Police Department, after discussion and agreement between the two units, the Vietnam Directorate for Roads reported and received approval from the Ministry of Construction to implement the following pilot scheme:

For the Hanoi – Hai Phong Expressway

Lane 1: Maximum allowed speed: 120 km/h; minimum allowed speed: 90 km/h.

– Prohibited vehicles include:

+ Common cargo trucks, except: Pickup ca-bin single, Pickup ca-bin double, and VAN trucks;

+ Special cargo trucks, except money transport trucks;

+ Special-purpose vehicles;

+ Tractor-trailers;

+ Trailers.

Lane 2: Maximum allowed speed: 120 km/h; minimum allowed speed: 80 km/h. Cars are allowed to circulate.

Lane 3: Maximum allowed speed: 100 km/h; minimum allowed speed: 60 km/h. Cars are allowed to circulate.

For the Phap Van – Cau Gie Expressway

Lane 1: Maximum allowed speed: 100 km/h; minimum allowed speed: 80 km/h.

– Prohibited vehicles include:

+ Common cargo trucks, except: Pickup ca-bin single, Pickup ca-bin double, and VAN trucks;

+ Special cargo trucks, except money transport trucks;

+ Special-purpose vehicles;

+ Tractor-trailers;

+ Trailers.

Lane 2: Maximum allowed speed: 100 km/h; minimum allowed speed: 70 km/h. Cars are allowed to circulate.

Lane 3: Maximum allowed speed: 100 km/h; minimum allowed speed: 60 km/h. Cars are allowed to circulate.

Informative speed limit markings will be painted at several suitable and easily observable locations on the road surface to remind drivers of the corresponding speed limit signs on the expressways.

The pilot scheme will be implemented for a period of one month, starting from August 15, 2025.
