On National Day, a grand ceremony marked the inauguration and commencement of numerous projects and initiatives across the country.

In preparation for this significant event, the Government Office in collaboration with the Ministry of Construction held a press conference in Hanoi on the afternoon of the 14th of August.

Speaking at the conference, Minister and Head of the Government Office Tran Van Son, the Government Spokesperson, announced the Government’s decision to simultaneously inaugurate and commence construction on approximately 250 projects across 80 locations nationwide (combining live and virtual attendance at all project sites) on the morning of the 19th of August 2025.

As of the 13th of August, 250 projects across 34 provinces and cities met the requirements for inauguration and commencement, with a total investment of approximately VND 1,280 trillion. Of these, 89 projects will be inaugurated, and 161 will break ground.

Among the projects, 129 are funded by the state with VND 478 trillion, accounting for 37% of the total investment. The remaining 121 projects are funded by other sources, contributing VND 802 trillion, or 63% of the total. FDI accounts for 5 projects, with a total investment of approximately VND 54 trillion.

According to the Government Spokesperson, the inauguration and operation of these projects and the simultaneous commencement of large-scale constructions will boost the country’s socio-economic development, enhance regional connectivity, and contribute to the target of achieving 8% growth in 2025 and double-digit growth in subsequent years. These projects will also generate employment and improve the livelihoods of the people.

Out of the 250 eligible projects, 80 locations have been selected for live broadcasting, while the remaining projects will be inaugurated and commenced simultaneously.

In terms of timing, location, and format: The inauguration and commencement ceremony will take place at 9 am on the 19th of August at the central venue, the National Exhibition Center in Dong Anh district, Hanoi. The event will combine live television broadcasting and online streaming, connecting 80 locations nationwide.

Numerous Key Projects to be Inaugurated and Commenced on the Morning of the 19th of August

At the press conference, Deputy Minister of Construction Le Anh Tuan provided details on the types of projects: 59 transportation projects, 44 urban civil projects, 57 industrial projects, 36 technical infrastructure projects, 22 social housing projects, 6 agricultural and rural development projects, 3 cultural and sports projects, 12 education projects, 1 defense project, and 10 healthcare projects.

Among the 250 projects, there are 8 national priority projects, 46 Group A projects, 155 Group B projects, and 41 Group C projects.

One of the notable projects to be inaugurated on the 19th of August is the National Exhibition Center in Dong Anh district, developed by Vingroup. According to the original plan, the project was scheduled for completion in 2027. However, with the Government’s strong determination and the efforts of all stakeholders, construction began on August 30, 2024, and the project will be inaugurated on August 19, 2025, significantly ahead of schedule. This project features a complex design, beautiful architecture, and a super-large and super-heavy steel structure.

Additionally, the inauguration of the Nghe An Cancer Hospital, with a total investment of VND 1,259 billion and a capacity of 1,000 beds, and the commencement of the Hai Anh Wind Power Plant project, valued at VND 1,565 billion, are also highlights of this event. Another notable project is the construction of a commercial and service center combined with an amusement park in Da Nang, invested by Da Nang Capital, with a scale of 76.9 hectares and a total investment of VND 79,790 billion.

The commencement of Viettel’s Research and Development Center, a flagship project for researching high-tech equipment, especially semiconductors, AI, and data, with a total investment of approximately VND 10,000 billion, is also worth mentioning.

Notably, according to Deputy Minister of Construction Le Anh Tuan, the 250 projects inaugurated and commenced on the 19th of August are expected to contribute over 18% to the country’s GDP in 2025 and over 20% in subsequent years. State-funded projects will create a strategic infrastructure framework, attracting private investment.
