Celebrating 80 years of the August Revolution and National Day, the government has decided to inaugurate and commence construction on approximately 250 projects and infrastructure across 80 locations nationwide on August 19th. Among these, Hanoi will witness the groundbreaking of 7 key transportation projects.

First is the project to construct a direct route from Gia Binh Airport to the capital city (Hanoi section). Spanning 14km in length and 120m in width, this route will feature a brand-new 7km section from the Bac Ninh boundary to the intersection of Hanoi’s Ring Road 3 and the Hanoi-Lang Son Expressway. The remaining 7km will be an expansion of the existing Hanoi-Thai Nguyen Expressway and Ring Road 3 from 35m to 120m.

With an investment of VND 42,450 billion for the 14km stretch in Hanoi, this project includes land clearance costing over VND 8,100 billion and construction and consultation fees totaling VND 34,300 billion.

Second is Component Project 3 of the Ring Road 4 – Capital Region Project.

This project boasts a total length of approximately 113.52km, including a 103.82km main route and a 9.7km connecting route towards the Noi Bai – Ha Long Expressway. Designed as a highway with a speed limit of 100km/h, it will initially feature a four-lane road with a 17m wide pavement and 7.5m wide bridges (except for the Hong and Duong River bridges, which will be 24.5m wide). 

The completed six-lane expressway (to be implemented in the future) will include eight fully-functional interchanges (five in Hanoi, two in Hung Yen, and one in Bac Ninh), the completion of the Southwest Interchange in Bac Ninh, seven connecting ramps to the parallel roads on both sides, and other auxiliary works. The total investment for this project stands at VND 56,293 billion.

The winning consortium for this project includes CityLand Investment and Infrastructure Development JSC, Sunflower Saigon JSC, Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC), and Horizon Investment JSC.

Third is the Van Phuc Bridge and connecting road to National Highway 32 Project (Phuc Tho District, Hanoi), with a total length of 7.77km, designed as a plain grade-3 road with a speed limit of 80km/h.

The 4.81km section from Van Phuc Bridge to National Highway 32 will feature six vehicle lanes and two mixed-use lanes. The Van Phuc Bridge, spanning 2.97km, includes an embankment in the Van Coc reservoir area, approach bridges, and a main bridge over the river, with a width of 20.5m accommodating four vehicle lanes and two mixed-use lanes. The total investment for this project is VND 3,444 billion.

Fourth is Component Project 3 of the Ngoc Hoi Bridge and its connecting roads Project. With a total length of approximately 7.5km, of which 5.2km is in Hanoi and 2.3km in Hung Yen Province, this project will connect Ring Road 3.5 from Phuc La to Van Phu with the Phap Van-Cau Gie Expressway.

The main bridge over the Hong River will be approximately 680m long and 32.3m wide, accommodating six vehicle lanes and two mixed-use lanes. The approach roads will be about 6.58km long and 33m wide. The project also includes the construction of technical infrastructure, lighting, intelligent transportation systems, and traffic organization, among other features. The total investment for this project is VND 10,197 billion.

Fifth is the construction of a resettlement area (Dong Anh District) as part of the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway line project, covering an area of 6 hectares.

Sixth is the construction of a resettlement area (Ngoc Hoi District) as part of the high-speed North-South railway project, spanning 0.92 hectares.

Seventh is the Smart City Project (Vinh Thanh Commune) with a land area of 271.45 hectares, to be implemented in five phases.
