On August 15, a task force comprising representatives from the Office of the Investigation Police Agency of the Ministry of Public Security (Vietnam Interpol Office) and Hanoi Police received and escorted the wanted fugitive Ngo Thi Theu from Thailand to Vietnam for handling.

Ngo Thi Theu (born 1995) was wanted for failing to denounce crimes. She is a suspect in a fraud case involving Pho Duc Nam (Mr. Pips) and Le Khac Ngo (Mr. Hunter, Theu’s husband) – the masterminds of a VND 5,300 billion fraud ring handled by Hanoi Police.

According to the Ministry of Public Security, earlier, at the request of Hanoi Police, the Vietnam Interpol Office requested the Interpol General Secretariat to issue an international wanted notice for Ngo Thi Theu. At the same time, the Vietnam Interpol Office also requested the Interpol Offices of Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Turkey to support the verification, arrest, and handover of Theu to Vietnamese police.

On May 22, the authorities discovered that Ngo Thi Theu was residing illegally in Thailand. Thai police, in collaboration with the Vietnam Interpol Office, located and detained the suspect.

With the permission of the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, on August 14 and 15, a task force from the Investigation Police Agency of the Ministry of Public Security and Hanoi Police went to Thailand to receive and escort Ngo Thi Theu back to Vietnam.

The process of receiving and escorting the suspect was carried out with absolute safety, in full compliance with professional requirements, legal regulations, and diplomatic protocols under international treaties and agreements between Vietnam and Thailand.
