On August 14, the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Corporation (Vinatex, UPCoM: VGT) held a thematic meeting on labor trends from now until 2030, the domestic labor market situation in the first half of the year, and their direct impacts on textile and garment enterprises.

According to a report presented by Mr. Hoang Manh Cam, Chief of Vinatex’s Board of Management Office, the global labor market is being significantly influenced by five major trends: the development of artificial intelligence and robotics, green transition, geopolitical instability, economic risks, and demographic changes.

By 2030, it is predicted that about 22% of current jobs will be affected by automation and digitalization. While sectors such as digital technology, clean energy, healthcare, and education tend to have increasing manpower demands, many indirect and repetitive positions like office work, cashiers, or unskilled labor will diminish.

Mr. Hoang Manh Cam, Chief of Vinatex’s Board of Management Office, shares about Global Labor and Skill Trends in 2025

In Vietnam, jobs are still predominantly in the processing and manufacturing industries, but informal employment accounts for a large proportion, and skills do not meet the requirements of new technologies. In the textile industry, many businesses have started applying automated chains, leading to a demand for highly skilled personnel to replace traditional labor. This is coupled with a labor shortage and fierce competition for attracting workers among companies, especially in the last six months.

Given this context, textile and garment enterprises are forced to recalculate their human resources strategies towards more flexibility, combining vocational training with digital technology, and implementing policies to retain young workers through career paths, salary improvements, and welfare benefits. Additionally, redesigning job descriptions, mentoring in workshops, multi-channel recruitment, and sharing data on internal manpower needs are considered practical solutions.

Mr. Cao Huu Hieu, General Director of Vinatex affirmed that the textile industry could not maintain its traditional human resources model amid rapid automation and complex labor fluctuations. Therefore, units need to be more proactive in building human resources strategies for the 2025-2030 period, focusing on improving team quality, standardizing human resources data, and regularly updating labor market information.

He also emphasized that training programs, human resources information sharing, and plans to retain employees must be substantive, avoiding formality. Moreover, cooperation and sharing among units within the Corporation will determine the efficiency of human resource utilization throughout the system.
