Pursuing Prosecution Against Hanoi Insurance Company Director for Disseminating False Information

The authorities have concluded their investigation and are seeking to prosecute Le Thi Mai, the director of Hoang Gia Insurance Agency Ltd., on charges of abusing democratic freedoms.

On August 12, 2025, the Investigative Security Agency of the Ministry of Public Security issued investigation conclusions on a case of “abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals” that occurred in Hanoi.

The investigation results determined that Le Thi Mai (born September 16, 1984, residing in Ha Dong Ward, Hanoi City, and director of Hoang Gia Insurance Agency Company Limited) had abused her freedom of speech by spreading false information on her personal Facebook account. Furthermore, the suspect took advantage of the right to complain and denounce to provide false information, infringing upon the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals.

Based on the collected documents and evidence, the Investigative Security Agency of the Ministry of Public Security transferred the case file to the Supreme People’s Procuracy, proposing to prosecute Le Thi Mai for the crime of “abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals” as prescribed in Clause 2, Article 331 of the Penal Code.
