On August 18th, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police Department announced the implementation of online registration services for motorcycles and cars with 8 seats or fewer in 86 wards and communes. With this new initiative, residents are no longer required to bring their vehicles to the police headquarters for inspection.

The local police in these 86 wards and communes are now authorized to carry out registration procedures for cars with a capacity of up to 8 passengers (excluding the driver’s seat) and similar vehicles.

The entire process, from new registrations and changes in vehicle ownership information to the issuance of new certificates and replacement of blurred or damaged license plates, can now be completed through online public services without the need for physical inspections of the vehicles.

In addition to cars, the police in these 86 wards and communes will also accept registrations for motorcycles and motorbikes from domestic organizations and individuals based in Ho Chi Minh City.

However, this regulation does not apply to other types of cars, specialized motorcycles, or vehicles obtained through confiscation.
