According to the 2026 estimate, the total expenditure on education and training is expected to be approximately VND 630,000 billion, an increase of about VND 134,000 billion compared to 2025.

This information was shared by Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang at the 2024-2025 Academic Year Review Conference held by the Ministry of Education and Training on August 22.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thang also noted that this is the minimum expenditure, and the estimate could increase further depending on the needs and without a capped limit.

He drew the Ministry of Education and Training’s attention to the expenditure structure. Specifically, a minimum of 5% of the total state budget expenditure should be allocated to investment projects, and at least 3% to higher education.

The Deputy Minister of Finance requested that localities prioritize making estimates for education and training according to these targets. Localities with high demands for investment in infrastructure, equipment, textbooks, etc., must review their policies, especially those related to teachers, resource attraction, tuition fee exemption, and other policies to ensure inclusiveness and limit unexpected issues that may hinder the management process.

Ministries and sectors with universities should also review their policies, especially the new ones to be included in the upcoming Resolution by the Politburo, for inclusion in the estimates to be reported to the National Assembly for approval.
