There have been recent rumors circulating on social media platforms claiming that Honda Global plans to build a hydrogen-powered vehicle factory in Tra Vinh province to directly compete with electric vehicle brands such as VinFast, Yadea, and Dat Bike. This information quickly sparked public interest and was widely shared.

In response, Honda Vietnam has officially denied these claims. The company asserts that this information is completely false and emphasizes that Honda Global has no plans to build a hydrogen vehicle factory in Vietnam. “Honda Vietnam (HVN) would like to affirm that this information is completely false. Currently, Honda Global has no plans regarding the aforementioned content in Vietnam,” the brand’s fan page stated.

This timely response is essential to address the spread of misinformation on online platforms, which can cause confusion among consumers and impact the brand’s reputation.

According to Honda Vietnam’s business report (from April 2024 to March 2025), the company experienced growth in both motorcycle and automobile sales.

In the motorcycle segment, Honda Vietnam sold nearly 2.3 million units, a 10% increase from the previous year, capturing 83% of the market share in the Vietnam Motorcycle Manufacturers Association, a 1.6% rise from the previous year. During this period, HVN introduced 13 new models, including their first electric motorcycle models, the ICON e: and CUV e:. In the automobile segment, sales reached nearly 30,000 units, a 10.5% increase, with the City model being among the top-selling vehicles in the market.

Currently, Honda Vietnam operates three motorcycle factories and one automobile factory with annual capacities of 2.75 million motorcycles and 35,000 automobiles, respectively. The company also recently produced its 40 millionth motorcycle in Vietnam, marking a significant milestone in its nearly three decades of operation.

The introduction of the first electric motorcycle models, the ICON e: and CUV e:, signifies Honda Vietnam’s important step towards electrification in the local market. This marks the first time the company has adopted a leasing model instead of direct sales. Customers can lease these electric motorcycles for as low as VND 1.47 million per month, with a deposit of VND 2 million, along with attractive leasing packages.

The company has also set carbon neutrality goals and continues to promote road safety initiatives with the vision of “Zero deaths due to road traffic accidents by 2045.”
