According to statistics from the Customs Department, in July 2025, Vietnam exported 67,980 tons of cashew nuts, earning 460.1 million USD, up 1.3% in volume and 11.1% in value compared to July 2024. Cumulatively, in the first seven months of 2025, cashew nut exports reached 412,710 tons, worth 2.8 billion USD, down 2.6% in volume but up 18.3% in value compared to the same period in 2024.

China, the United States, and the Netherlands remained the top three consumers of Vietnamese cashew nuts, accounting for 22.4%, 20.3%, and 9.1% of the market share, respectively. Compared to the same period in 2024, exports to China increased by 45%, while exports to the US and the Netherlands decreased by 6.2% and increased by 23.1%, respectively.

In July 2025, China was the largest importer of Vietnamese cashew nuts, with 13,110 tons worth 82.72 million USD, down 24.8% in volume and 25.7% in value compared to June 2025. However, compared to July 2024, there was a significant increase of 49.9% in volume and 61% in value, accounting for 19.29% of total cashew nut exports that month. Cumulatively, in the first seven months, exports to China reached 96,230 tons, worth 608.28 million USD, up 28.8% in volume and 47% in value compared to the same period in 2024.

Cashew nut exports to the US in July 2025 amounted to 12,940 tons, worth 85.68 million USD, an increase of 25.4% in volume and 25% in value compared to the previous month. However, compared to July 2024, there was a decrease of 38% in volume and 33.6% in value. Overall, in the first seven months, Vietnam exported 83,020 tons of cashew nuts to the US, worth 561.13 million USD, down 27.5% in volume and 11.7% in value compared to the previous year.

Additionally, cashew exports in the first seven months showed promising growth in emerging markets such as Germany, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Japan, Latvia, Singapore, and Pakistan. In contrast, exports to traditional markets like the UK, Australia, Canada, Russia, Spain, and Thailand declined.

In the first half of the year, Vietnam remained the largest supplier of cashew nuts to the US, with 78,810 tons worth 547.06 million USD, a decrease of 10% in volume but an increase of 13.4% in value. The average import price of cashew nuts from Vietnam reached 6,941 USD/ton, up 26.1% compared to the same period in 2024. Vietnam’s market share accounted for 87.75% in volume and 87.04% in value of the US’s total cashew nut imports.

According to the Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas), in July 2025, the average export price of cashew nuts from Vietnam was 6,768 USD/ton, a decrease of 0.8% compared to June 2025 but an increase of 9.7% compared to the previous year. On average, in the first seven months of the year, the export price of cashew nuts was estimated at 6,805 USD/ton, up 21.4% compared to the same period in 2024. In the context of a volatile global market, the increase in cashew export prices presents a promising outlook for this key agricultural commodity.

Vinacas attributed the significant increase in cashew nut export prices to various factors, including the growing trend of healthy snacking worldwide, which has driven consumers to prioritize nutritious and healthy nuts. The demand for cashew nuts is expected to continue rising, offering a golden opportunity for Vietnam’s cashew industry to thrive during the 2022-2027 period, with a projected global growth rate of 4.6%.
