In a break from tradition, where new iPhone models would take some time to reach the Vietnamese market, users in the country will be able to purchase the iPhone 17 at the same time as its global release.

According to official Apple resellers and distributors, the iPhone 17 will be the first iPhone model to be released simultaneously in Vietnam and worldwide.

The product launch event is scheduled for September 9, with sales commencing ten days later on September 19. Previously, new iPhone models were typically released in Vietnam a week or even a month after their global launch.

This means that Vietnamese users can now experience the iPhone 17 at the same time as the rest of the world, without having to resort to purchasing through the grey market.

The iPhone 17, slated for release in the fall of 2025, is gradually taking shape through a series of credible rumors, promising one of the most comprehensive and exciting upgrades in recent years.

Farewell Plus, Hello Air

The most significant change in 2025 is Apple’s decision to discontinue the Plus model after years of underwhelming sales. In its place, a brand new model will be introduced: the iPhone 17 Air.

The iPhone 17 lineup is expected to comprise four models with refined screen sizes:

iPhone 17: 6.3-inch display (up from the current 6.1 inches). iPhone 17 Air: 6.6-inch display. iPhone 17 Pro: 6.3-inch display (same as iPhone 16 Pro). iPhone 17 Pro Max: 6.9-inch display.

All eyes are on the iPhone 17 Air, positioned to replace the Plus model but with a completely different approach. True to its name, the “Air” model will boast an incredibly slim design.

Sources suggest that the device’s thickness will range from 5.5mm to 6.25mm, potentially breaking the record set by the iPhone 6 (6.9mm) to become the thinnest iPhone ever.

Not only is the iPhone 17 Air incredibly slim, but its design is also revolutionary, with the rear camera module moved to the center instead of the left corner. Despite featuring a single lens, it will sport a high-quality 48MP sensor. With an expected price of around $899 (approximately 24 million VND), the iPhone 17 Air is poised to be a compelling choice for those seeking a large-screen iPhone with a unique and trendy design.

iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max: A Design and Material Overhaul

While the Air model emphasizes thinness, the Pro duo takes on a bolder and more distinct approach. Apple is rumored to revert to a premium aluminum frame, abandoning the titanium frame after just two generations.

The changes don’t stop there. The back of the device will feature a unique combination of aluminum and glass, with the top half made of aluminum and the bottom half of glass to facilitate wireless charging. The most daring alteration lies in the camera module, where the familiar square module will be replaced by a rectangular camera bar made of aluminum, creating an entirely fresh look. The Apple logo may also be repositioned lower to harmonize with the overall design.

Valuable Upgrades Across the Lineup

In addition to model-specific changes, Apple will introduce significant upgrades applicable to all four iPhone 17 models, blurring the lines between the standard and premium versions.

ProMotion 120Hz Display for All: This is arguably the biggest piece of good news. After years of exclusivity to the Pro models, the ProMotion display technology with an adaptive 1−120Hz refresh rate and Always-On Display will finally make its way to the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air. This will provide an ultra-smooth scrolling experience for all users. 24MP Selfie Camera: All iPhone 17 models will receive a significant upgrade to the front camera, boosting the resolution to 24MP (up from 12MP), promising sharper selfies and video calls. Slimmer Bezels: Following the iPhone 16 Pro, all four 2025 models are expected to feature thinner bezels, maximizing the display area.

Hardware Performance and Camera System

In terms of performance, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will be powered by the mighty A19 Pro chip, while the other two models will use the A19. A notable upgrade is the RAM capacity: the iPhone 17 Air, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max will boast 12GB of RAM, while the standard model retains 8GB.

The rear camera system remains a highlight of the Pro models. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is predicted to be the first iPhone to feature a triple 48MP camera setup (Wide, Ultra Wide, and Telephoto) with 8K video recording capability. The 5x optical zoom will remain exclusive to the Pro models.

Additionally, rumors suggest that the Pro models may incorporate a mechanical aperture (allowing adjustable depth of field) and dual video recording (simultaneously capturing with front and rear cameras).

Regarding battery and charging, the wired charging speed may remain at 35W, but wireless charging could be bumped up to 25W with the new Qi 2.2 standard.

Expected Pricing

With a host of valuable upgrades, a price increase for the iPhone 17 is inevitable. Analysts predict a rise of around $50 (over 1 million VND) for each model compared to its predecessor. The iPhone 17 standard model is expected to start at $850, and the iPhone 17 Air will fill the $899 price point previously occupied by the Plus model.
