Apple iPhone Models See a Surprise Price Drop: Starting at Just $120!

While July and August typically mark a sluggish period for iPhone sales as consumers anticipate new releases, this year has seen a reversal of fortunes. According to FPT Shop representatives, the iPhone 14 and 15 models have been flying off the shelves thanks to attractive discounts, resulting in overall sales surpassing last year’s figures for the same period.

This trend is echoed by Thế Giới Di Động, who noted that iPhone sales, which previously lagged in August, have now regained momentum. Specifically, older iPhone models, including the iPhone 15 series and earlier, have witnessed a significant surge in sales, accounting for 21% of total sales at the retailer, up from just 6% previously.

Di Động Việt also reported a 10% increase in customers purchasing iPhone Like New devices during the first two weeks of August compared to the previous month. The most sought-after models among consumers were the iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and other flagship devices in the iPhone lineup.

CellphoneS’ data reveals that older iPhone models, ranging from the iPhone 6 to the iPhone 8, accounted for a substantial 44% of total iPhone sales during the months of June, July, and August, outperforming the 38% recorded in the same period last year. Viettel Store has also witnessed growth rates of up to 30% during July and August, indicating that iPhones are solidifying their market share in the highly competitive 10-15 million VND price bracket.

Despite the surge in demand for older models, Apple’s latest premium offering, the iPhone 16 Pro Max, continues to be a top draw. According to FPT Shop, this single model accounts for approximately 50% of their iPhone revenue, reinforcing its status as a flagship device.

Riding on the wave of renewed interest in pre-owned iPhones, Vietnamese retailers have stepped up their game by offering a plethora of discounts and promotions aimed at capturing a larger share of this burgeoning market.

Di Động Việt, for instance, has slashed prices across its range of pre-owned iPhone flagships, with certain models now starting as low as 7.79 million VND. To illustrate, the iPhone 15 Pro Max 256GB can now be had for just 21.09 million VND, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 11 Pro Max 256GB Like New are priced at 10.39 million VND and 7.79 million VND, respectively.

In the budget-friendly segment, Like New devices such as the iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone 11, and iPhone 14 have gained traction among consumers thanks to their affordable price points coupled with reliable performance. The iPhone 8 Plus is now available from just 2.89 million VND, while the iPhone Xs Max starts at 6.29 million VND. The iPhone 11 and iPhone 14 are also within reach, priced at 4.59 million VND and 8.09 million VND, respectively.

This year, Vietnam is expected to be among the first countries to receive the iPhone 17, alongside the US and Singapore, with sales commencing on September 19. The new iPhone is set to be unveiled on September 9, followed by pre-orders starting on September 12. In recent years, Vietnam has narrowed the gap with early launch countries, discouraging consumers from resorting to the grey market for their iPhone fix. The official launch has consistently generated impressive revenue, with sales on the first day routinely surpassing the thousand-billion VND mark.

Leaked information suggests that the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max will feature a redesigned aluminum chassis, marking a departure from the square camera module of their predecessors and adopting a horizontal layout reminiscent of the Pixel 9 Pro. Under the hood, Apple is expected to pack a punch with the A19 Pro chip, 12GB of RAM, a 48MP telephoto camera, and a 24MP front-facing camera, setting the stage for a significant upgrade over previous generations.
