According to the documents released ahead of the upcoming Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) scheduled for 25 September, HOSE-listed Securities SSI plans to seek shareholder approval for a rights issue of 415.6 million new shares to existing shareholders at a ratio of 5:1. The timing of the offering has not yet been disclosed.
The offering price for SSI’s existing investors has been set at VND 15,000 per share, significantly lower than the market price of VND 42,000 per share at the close of 28 August. Through this capital increase, the leading brokerage firm aims to raise VND 6,230 billion to fund its investment activities and margin lending business. In the first half of the year, SSI’s outstanding loans surged by 50% to VND 33,100 billion, while its holdings of investments to maturity (term deposits under one year) increased by 59% to VND 6,200 billion.
In parallel with the rights issue, the brokerage firm is also in the process of privately placing up to 104 million shares, equivalent to 5.28% of its outstanding shares.
Amid soaring stock prices and booming trading liquidity, SSI is not alone in its capital-raising endeavors. Several other securities firms are also gearing up for various fundraising activities, including initial public offerings (IPOs), private placements, and share issuances to existing shareholders.
