Airlines add more flights, cooling down airfare for the National Day holiday
Significant price drops on many routes
Airfare for the National Day holiday on September 2nd has shown a “cooling down” trend compared to a few weeks ago. On high-demand routes such as Ho Chi Minh City – Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City – Danang, passengers still have many comfortable price options.
According to ticket sales systems, Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet, Bamboo Airways, and Vietravel Airlines have released a large number of tickets for the Ho Chi Minh City – Hanoi route with significantly reduced prices. This route is usually in high demand during holidays and Tet.
Vietnam Airlines is currently offering tickets from August 30th to September 3rd, starting at 1.95 million VND/trip for economy class, a significant decrease from the 2.7 – 3.7 million VND/trip recorded at the beginning of August. Especially, tickets around 2 million VND/trip are still available, mainly for night flights. For the Ho Chi Minh City – Danang route, Vietnam Airlines’ ticket prices have dropped by about 200,000 VND compared to the previous week.

Passengers flying with Vietjet Air complete procedures at Terminal T1, Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
Meanwhile, Vietjet is offering tickets starting at 1.5 million VND/trip (excluding taxes and fees). After adding taxes and fees, the ticket price ranges from 2.2 to 2.8 million VND/ticket in the Eco category. On August 31st, many Ho Chi Minh City – Hanoi flights offered by Vietjet were priced at only 1.7 million VND/ticket, including taxes and fees. Bamboo Airways and Vietravel Airlines are also applying similar prices, providing customers with more options.
The airlines attributed the price decrease to the increase in the number of flights. Vietnam Airlines, in particular, will provide nearly 600,000 seats during the six peak days (August 29th – September 3rd), equivalent to nearly 2,900 flights, an increase of more than 100,000 seats compared to the same period last year. Of these, domestic routes account for 418,000 seats, focusing on Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi – Danang, and routes to Cam Ranh, Dalat, and Hue…
Vietjet also added nearly 10,000 seats, equivalent to 50 flights, evenly distributed across vibrant domestic tourist routes such as Ho Chi Minh City – Hanoi, Danang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, and Hue… to meet the rising demand.
Tan Son Nhat Airport serves over 10 million passengers during the summer peak
According to Tan Son Nhat International Airport, during the 2025 summer peak (May 22nd – August 17th), the total number of flights reached 60,144, averaging 699 flights/day, a nearly 6% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Passenger volume exceeded 10.2 million, averaging nearly 119,000 passengers/day, a 4.5% increase over the previous year. Specifically, domestic passengers increased by 2.4%, and international passengers by 7.7%. After the summer peak, the airport is preparing for the National Day holiday peak on September 2nd.
It is expected that during the holiday, Tan Son Nhat will serve approximately 730 flights/day, including 430 domestic and 300 international flights, a 6% increase compared to the current schedule. The average daily passenger volume is expected to reach 125,000, including 75,000 domestic and 50,000 international passengers.
The two busiest days are expected to be August 30th (for domestic departures) and September 2nd (for domestic returns), with 750 flights and about 130,000 passengers.
To meet the rising travel demand, Tan Son Nhat International Airport has coordinated with airlines and related units to complete operational adjustments. Currently, Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, Vasco, Bamboo Airways, and Vietravel Airlines have transferred their domestic flights to Terminal T3. Vietjet Air continues to operate at Terminal T1.
