Vietnam’s aviation industry is also undergoing a rapid transformation with the implementation of biometric-based check-in systems for passengers. Following the directive of the Prime Minister on April 19, the Ministry of Public Security has collaborated with major airlines and airports to deploy new technological infrastructure, streamline processes, and enhance passenger experiences. Airports have also assigned support staff to guide passengers through the new procedures.
The advanced facial recognition system allows passengers to complete the check-in process in just a few seconds.
A Seamless and Convenient Check-in Experience for Passengers
Ms. Ngo Minh Ngoc (35 years old, Hanoi), a passenger who recently experienced the biometric check-in process with Vietjet, shared her satisfaction: “I am very pleased with this paperless check-in process. As someone who travels frequently for work, I appreciate the efficiency of not having to wait in long queues.”
Vietjet, a pioneer in adopting biometric technology, now offers passengers a fully digital check-in process through the VNeID and Vietjet Air apps for domestic flights departing from major airports across the country, including Noi Bai (Hanoi), Phu Bai (Hue), Cat Bi (Hai Phong), Cam Ranh (Nha Trang), Danang, and Phu Quoc.
Passengers can use the VNeID and Vietjet Air apps for a swift check-in process.
To enjoy a paperless check-in experience, passengers need to upgrade their VneID account to level 2 and ensure they have the latest versions of both the VneID and Vietjet Air apps. They can then open the VneID app, select “Other Services,” followed by “Aviation Services,” and then “Online Check-in.” After choosing “Vietjet Air,” they can proceed with the facial recognition verification process as guided.
Alternatively, passengers can also check in directly through the Vietjet Air app by logging in, entering their booking code, selecting their flight, and confirming their information and seat preference. Next, they can choose eKYC verification, agree to share their information, and verify their ID using a chip-enabled ID card. Once the eKYC process is complete, the check-in procedure is finalized, allowing passengers to swiftly move through the remaining pre-flight steps.
