The Hanoi People’s Committee has issued a decision approving the route and location of the 1/500 ratio section from C8 station to C10 station of the Construction Project of Urban Railway Line No. 2 (Nam Thang Long – Tran Hung Dao).
According to the plan prepared by the Hanoi Institute for Planning and Architecture and appraised by the Department of Planning and Architecture, the route will pass through the wards of Hoan Kiem and Cua Nam. The line will feature two parallel tunnels, which will then transition into a stacked arrangement from Hang Duong Street to Hang Chieu Street. The alignment will go underground through Hang Duong, Hang Ngang, Hang Dao, Hoan Kiem Lake area, Dinh Tien Hoang Street, and Hang Bai Street.
The Metro line will pass through the Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake area.
There will be three stations on this section: C8 station remains unchanged from the approved plan in 2014. C9 station (Hoan Kiem Lake) will be constructed underground on Dinh Tien Hoang Street, passing through the square and the eastern park of Hoan Kiem Lake, and the premises of the People’s Council and People’s Committee of Hanoi City. It will comprise four floors with a total area of approximately 7,703 square meters.
C10 station (Tran Hung Dao) will be located at the intersection of Hang Bai and Tran Hung Dao Streets, with four floors and a total area of about 5,482 square meters. Notably, this station will feature a cross-platform interchange with S13 station of Metro Line 3, facilitating passenger transfers between the two lines in the future.
This new plan replaces the previously approved C8-C10 route as per decisions No. 2297/QD-UBND (2013) and 861/QD-UBND (2016). It will serve as a basis for updating and supplementing relevant detailed and divisional planning schemes.
The Hanoi People’s Committee has entrusted the Department of Planning and Architecture to verify the drawings and monitor the implementation. The Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board is responsible for publicly announcing the approved documents, establishing the adjusted boundary and centerline of the route, while the People’s Committees of Hoan Kiem and Cua Nam wards are tasked with strictly managing land and construction order in accordance with the approved plan.
