CGV Vietnam issues an official apology to customers after their online booking system for the A80 program experienced an overload. The incident occurred due to a sudden surge in traffic right after the registration opened, resulting in many individuals being unable to successfully book tickets during peak hours.
As part of a special campaign by CGV to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd, they committed to screening the A80 program for free across 52 cinemas nationwide, located in 23 provinces and cities, with nearly 10,000 tickets distributed to viewers.
“CGV would like to thank everyone for their special interest in CGV’s activities. We had prepared a plan for all customers to be able to receive free tickets online. However, due to extremely high traffic, our system experienced congestion, resulting in an incomplete experience for our valued customers. CGV sincerely apologizes for this incident,” the statement from CGV read.

Immediately after receiving feedback from users, CGV’s technical team addressed the issue. As of now, the booking system is functioning normally again, continuing to record successful bookings: “CGV acknowledges your suggestions and sincerely appreciates your patience during this time. We will continue to closely monitor the system to ensure stable operations, providing a convenient and swift experience.”
According to the organizers, from 2:09 PM on August 28th, the system will officially open for online reservations. Audiences only need to log in to their CGV member account on the application and then check the “My CGV – Coupon” section to receive the booking code.
Each account will automatically receive a maximum of four coupons, named: A80 – Vietnam, A80 – Independence, A80 – Freedom, and A80 – Happiness. After receiving the coupon, viewers can choose the screening, select their seats as they would for a regular movie booking, and then confirm with the coupon at no cost.
To finalize the process, users need to keep the booking code and go to the ticket counter on the day of the screening to get their paper tickets. In case of any changes, viewers can utilize the refund feature and switch to other screenings or cinemas if seats are available.
However, the organizers noted that only coupon payments are accepted, and no other payment methods can be accommodated.
