Reducing Construction Time from 2 Years to 10 Months for the World’s Leading Exhibition Center
In his opening remarks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that, amidst the festive and heroic atmosphere of the historic autumn days, the entire country is jubilantly celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnamese People’s Public Security Forces, the August Revolution’s success, and National Day on September 2nd. The inauguration of the exhibition titled “80 Years of Independence, Freedom, and Happiness Journey” was solemnly held at the National Exhibition Center, a unique architectural masterpiece with an open space, synchronized infrastructure, and advanced technology.
The Prime Minister recalled that exactly one year ago, on August 30, 2024, the National Exhibition and Fair Center was officially inaugurated in Dong Anh district.
Throughout the project’s implementation, it received great attention and guidance from Comrade General Secretary To Lam, the Government, the Prime Minister, relevant ministries and sectors, and Hanoi city. Vingroup demonstrated high determination, great efforts, and resolute actions, closely monitoring the construction site and working with the spirit of “overcoming the sun, winning against the rain, and not losing to storms,” “only discussing how to do it, not discussing how to retreat,” “working day and night, even on holidays,” “working continuously 24/7,” “3 shifts, 4 teams,” and “working through holidays, festivals, and Tet holidays.” With united efforts, they overcame all difficulties and focused on the construction with a “daring and rapid” spirit, involving more than 1,000 engineers and workers on the site.
As a result, the construction time was reduced from 2 years (as initially planned) to 10 months (from the inauguration on August 30, 2024, to June 27, 2025), fulfilling all the requirements set by the Prime Minister and complying with legal regulations.
“The construction of the National Exhibition and Fair Center, a modern and spacious venue, contributes to realizing the Conclusion of the Politburo on Hanoi Capital Planning, promoting its development towards a ‘Cultural, Civilized, and Modern’ city with a smart urban model, an innovative city, bright, green, clean, and beautiful,” the Prime Minister stated.
The project’s scale covers an area of 90 hectares, with the National Exhibition and Fair Center boasting over 304,000 square meters of indoor space, 200,000 square meters of outdoor space, 3 international-standard conference halls accommodating 5,000 people, along with high-class and modern technical infrastructure and services. In terms of scale and total investment, it ranks among the top 10 largest national and international exhibition and fair centers in the world.
One notable feature of the National Exhibition and Fair Center is its steel dome roof, one of the largest in the world, standing at a height of 56 meters with a diameter of 360 meters and a weight of 24,000 tons. Vietnam independently produced, designed, and constructed this dome, modeled after a turtle shell. The project transformed a deserted riverside area into an attractive destination, ready to host significant political, economic, cultural, and artistic events of the nation, region, and world; it is also a gathering place for patriotic spirit and national pride of Vietnam.
